My wife and I bought Shelby and Jackson’s house, the cypress home with the blue shutters, in 2016. We absolutely love it and love living in Natchitoches……it’s a true gem of a city with simply great people. Thank you for posting this video!

Interesting that they filmed, not just the exterior shots, but also the interior scenes inside the houses too, rather than on a soundstage elsewhere.
@fiftyfeistyandfabulous7402 Жыл бұрын
They actually did have a sound stage and rooms that were assembled to represent rooms in some of the houses. I was a student at Northwestern State University. At the time this was filmed, and they used one of our larger buildings to accommodate the props and staged scenes. They also used it for some rehearsals, my family was in the movie in the wedding scene and the reception scene and the Easter bunny scene at the end. I’m introverted, so I had no desire whatsoever to appear on the screen but I knew all of those homes and all of those landmarks long before the movie became a possibility, however there was definitely an electricity in the air during filming that could not be ignored.

I also love this movie. Fun fact. My brother got married in Louisiana in the early 1990’s and they had props from the movie as decorations. I guess you could rent them. I know there was a gazebo and other things from the wedding scene in the movie. It was something my sister in law was excited about. They no longer live in Louisiana. But it was really really amazing as I remember it. This would have been the very early 1990’s. Cheers and keep up the good work.

I would love to play every part. Whenever I see the color pink I think to myself "It's not pink, it's blush and bashful". So thrilled you got to video this. One of my favorite lines in the show is "Too twisted for color TV". Thank you sooo much Jordan. I really needed a pick me up today. I know what I'm going to watch tonight when I get home. One of my favorite movies, Jordan! It came about the time I lost my Son, so I hadn't heard of it, and knew anything about it. I think it was 6 months, maybe a year later a friend invited some of us girl over to watch a movie. She took me aside & said I hear it's pretty sad, will you be ok? I was a never cry Infront of others, always alone. Let me tell you when they got to the scene with Sally Field in the cemetery...oh my gosh, my dam broke. It was a good thing, I had so many emotions I kept on pushing down, I needed a good cry!!! You did a terrific job, Jordan, I loved when you chuckle in all the right places!!! Thank you so much!!! 🌼

They even have a copy of the movie so you can watch it in the room where they played cards before Shelby’s surgery. The owners and staff are very nice and great host! We visited all the filming locations and even acted out the groom’s cake scene with red velvet cake with grey icing in the garage.😂. I remember seeing it at least a dozen times when if was still in the cinemas and then I went to see it again when the independent cinema in my city replayed it in Fall 2019 for its 30th anniversary. One of the reasons I liked it so much was because of could identify with the Ouiser character played by Shirley MacLaine. And I'm also a huge Dolly Parton fan and loved Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts and Ann Wedgeworth (who played Aunt Vern and also Lana, who was after Jack for a few episodes of 'Three’s Company' in Season 5. Lke you, I know a lot of the script by heart. So, again, thank you for visiting Louisiana. This just may be my favourite of your hundreds of vlogs! Keep up the great work!!

I’ve watched your vlogs for several years, and now this will always be my favorite one. ❤️ I’ve been visiting Natchitoches since the late 70’s. I have family near there. My aunt and some cousins work just over the bridge you see at the end of the movie. That’s probably one of the reasons this movie is my favorite. I remember things like my aunt telling me that Jackson’s dad, in the movie, was the town sheriff. Other movies have also been filmed in or around Natchitoches. One time, while visiting, my uncle came home and said he’d been held up at a road block, due to the fact they were filming a scene for a movie. Turned out it was The Man In The Moon, with Reece Witherspoon. I believe some scenes for a John Wayne movie were filmed near there sometime in the 50’s. I always recommend people to visit Natchitoches. It’s an awesome town, which totally comes through in Steel Magnolia’s. For me, it has relatable characters and the best lines. Sally Field’s cemetery scene, is one of best in cinematic history, in my opinion. I love your enthusiasm in this vlog. It’s great to hear a males perspective. This film embodies family and friends, and comes full circle with all the seasons. When you get my age, the special occasions, shared with loved ones, is what we love most. My son is getting married in two weeks, and although they are having a pie bar, instead of a wedding cake, I guarantee you, before the night is over, I will quoting, there’s “nothing like a good piece of a$$.” To my husband, of course. 😁 Thanks Jordan. You made this southern woman’s day.
