I decided to build a semi portable steel pizza oven, loosely inspired by existing commercial products.

im by far a fabricator but I do build Hotdog carts. Ive been looking to build a pizza oven so im grabbing different ideas. anyway you can get a Steal Break from Harbor freight for fairly cheep. I use a hand one from their and build around 3 or 4 carts a year for clients and myself.

@@photofather1 Please send me your contact information on how to build carts. I deal with youth and prison inmates here in America and I need some type of vocational skill set to teach them. College is not for everyone. So if its possible that you can point me in the right direction as to how to get them started it would be greatly appreciated. I need something to motivate them and hopefully in the process keep them off of the streets and out of trouble. Thanks.

Un trabajo de 10 puntos! Felicitaciones luce excelente.

Hi, thanks for posting, I really found your vid useful. I've been thinking of making a pizza oven for the garden this year. I have been using a hexagonal shaped stove/burner in 6mm chequerplate for 4 years. My main concern is insulation. My stove eats fuel and kicks out heat. I've noticed whilst roasting/smoking joints I'm constantly trying to manage heat output... Shit, I wrote that then you discuss insulation.. Of course it's fundamental to using for cooking. Thanks, kind regards

Hi there, can i use stainless steel? Can it stand high temperature?
@PetesShredder9 ай бұрын
You can, but it will be much more prone to warping, and it costs a lot more.
@rafasp14 жыл бұрын
Hi i copyed your design but i'm having some trouble, when the steel was geting really hot, it started to drop the mill scale on the oven brick floor, so i removed it with white vinegar. After that, i used the oven again with no mill scale but when the oven gets really hot the steel start forming mill scale again. By the way i'm using a bbq burner gas setup, the pizzas come out outstanding. Thanks for your help. Regards. If you give me an email, i send you some photos.

Do you solve your problem? I have the exactly same problem
@rafasp14 жыл бұрын
@@renecardoza9048 I think the problem was that i used thin sheet metal, 1,5mm and it's get to hot. I solved the problem putting inside the oven a new layer of stainless steel sheet 1mm because other comercials oven like the ooni used 1mm stainles steel sheet. I think stainles steel stand better the heat because is more harder. I hope i wont get the same problem with stainless in the future. Another solution will be to use a thicker sheet.

Do you think a 15 Guage sheet would be good with enough insulation say 2 inches above and an inch thick stone at bottom enough?
@PetesShredder3 жыл бұрын
I’m not too familiar with gauge sizes but it looks like 1.7mm which I’d say is too thin. I don’t think it would retain enough heat

Where can I buy the steel sheet? Just one piece of sheet metal costs as much as a 16" commercial fully built, might as well just buy from the company than build one.
@PetesShredder2 жыл бұрын
I just went to a commercial fabrication place with a drawing and paid them cash to cut the parts out. You'd never be able to build this without the help of a place like that as you need to bend it somehow. I guess steel prices go up and down, but when I built this oven, I paid probably about 150 quid for all the metal. You Could buy an ooni for a similar cost, but it won't be anywhere near as good as a big heavy insulated oven with an inch thick stone floor
@ShopperPlug2 жыл бұрын
@@PetesShredder Very interesting, £150 quid is about $203. If you ask me $203 is a lot cheaper than a $600 16” Ooni. Using a thicker sheet metal will always be better than thin metal Ooni stuff. I just checked a popular US website for metal sheet prices, they are charging almost $500 for 12 inch x 10 foot stainless steel sheet metal with a 1/8th inch thickness. I guess I will need to talk with some local metal workers… but it will be pointless for me since I live in a prime city and everything here will be super super expensive and they will charge me $1,000 to have basic parts precut and ready, since labor and parts is expensive. I’m always jealous to see people on KZbin are able to make these effective portable pizza ovens for 1/3rd the cost of an Ooni.

For a build that has been made very technical with the 3D printed guide and so on, your work area is a mess. As for using the plasma cutter, there is no need for the excessive pushing. Your guide looked to be perfectly fitted ( although 2mm seemed a bit much) had you held your cutter straight there would be no need for grease. Don't mean to sound like an ass, your build was great. very well done.
