Nobody mentioned the amazing lyrics. This song is a man being lynched. His spirit lives on ultimately. Steel Pulse turns a wicked event into a spiritual victory. Jah Watch Over I! Evil, what you gonna do now? ❤️💛💚 btw, I’ve seen Steel pulse like 30 times (since late 70’s). They rarely do this one live

Whole album crushes. Handsworth Revolution as well. David Hinds is a treasure. If you don't have a lot of reggae knowledge you'll be able to go deep into some amazing music. You'll be a fan for sure.

Now we're talking. Probably the greatest British reggae band. Some great tunes especially on the first two albums.

Cool! I've seen these guys live at least once, but twice I think. The one I know for sure was in Portland at a reggae festival...in like 1993 or 94. I remember them being real atmospheric like this song was. It's amazing live in an outdoor show with a beer in your hand.

Ronnie McQueen's amazing bassline on this track "Unseen Guest" absolutely blows one's mind away... That guy was Magical and so underated.🎸
@rapier52 жыл бұрын
I consider McQueen's exit from the band, well really from David Hinds, one of the greatest musical tragedies of the 20th century. McQueen deep in the low end, and Hind's almost chanting, chanting rhythms, weaving in out out, sometimes David leading, sometimes Ronald, it's it's it's it's unfreaking believable. This album was his exit point I think and David has soldiered on for 40 plus more years with Steel Pulse. Nothing since compares to this albums Ten stars out of five.

Yes, reggae guitar creates a percussive element in the rhythm; it's in the stroke which is like a strike rather than a strum across the guitar strings. Steel Pulse in their prime era definitely were lyrically powerful; they made a huge impression as a musical expression of black liberation.

By Christmas Teez is gonna be rockin full dreads haha. I only knew of the first 4 albums and they were all good although I personally didn't care for "earth Crisis too much, it was hard getting past the Rollerskate song. This album, Hansworth Revolution and True Democracy were excellent. Play more Pulse.
