For design of water retaining structures, it very crucial to consider hydrostatic as well as hydrodynamic (impulsive & convective/sloshing wave pressure) during seismic event, so it is very necessary to add the same in the course, ( even many professional structural design haven't enough and right knowledge for the same), codes includes is IS 1893 part-2 , IS 3370 part( 1 to 4). Also note that hydrodynamic seismic load as per IS -1893 part-2 is applicable only for some ideal shapes of tanks (like square, rectangular,circular shape of reservoirs only),tanks with single compartment only, as well as only for tanks supported on flat base. Inclusion of application of hydro-dynamic seismic load on water retaining structures irrespective of above condition like , tanks of any shape (prismatic/tapered), tanks rested on flat or inclined ground, any shape of cross section of tank walls uniform or tapered,multi compartment with different fluid heights & density/s needs to covered thoroughly along with theoretical concepts of computational fluid dynamics/potential fluid dynamics. Inclusion of moving load of multiple cranes running in underground tanks, that are generally available at ports. These topics needs to cover thoroughly.
