To say that Ben was fully developed when Mike Tomlin became head coach of the Steelers is a bit of an overstatement. He was in his 4th year and still had a lot of growth ahead of him. But even laying that aside Tomlin has developed top tier defenses to keep the Steelers competitive and there’s something to be said about that

HC still has sat and responsibility in that matter, but most defensive coaches will naturally be better at identifying defensive talent and vice versa.
