On that first toss, I don't think Najee gets past that level even if Mason holds up because Pruitt couldn't hold his block either. I think if they didn't do it so much, you could catch teams off guard more, but defenses are just waiting on it, and our blocking isn't there to keep calling it. I definitely see what you're pointing out and hear what you're saying!

On the first play, why is Issac pulling into the gap Mason just got pushed out of by Carter? It almost looks like he helps Carter out instead of blocking on the play. What good does it do for Issac to break upfield there? It looks like if he would have pulled through the gap on the other side of Mason, it would have helped.

In the year of 2024, why they don't stretch the mesh instead of pitching it on outside zone/lead outside zone/etc screams "antiquated offensive play design". Either the RB's vision or his ability to catch the ball will suffer. On top of that, the amount of stuff you can do with a stretch mesh as compared to the toss is massive & it's why you don't see the toss as anything more than gameplan wrinkle from good teams. From the stretch, you can do various types of PA that actually gets backers filling downhill, boot that really sucks that BS edge defender in (or slows his pursuit down after making him pay for chasing the back), or deep stretch action from pistol + rollout protection for traditional PA really puts defenders in binds. The toss should remain in pop warner, but no higher. Running it consistently as an NFL team is extremely embarrassing. Running stops/curls/comebacks instead of dynamic/moving routes that make defenders chase is also JV football. When you're this outmatched talent wise bc your front office cherishes draft picks too much then misses on weapons/injury prone guys, running a "meh" HS offense gets you the least amount of offensive plays ran all season.

Steelers have all-pro talent at almost every position, has to be the coaching, except the first toss, runnerman #22 looks really slow to get the hole. In his defense, he is not an allpro. Freimuth is lucky that safety didn't take his head off he is a super weak blocker. In fact, his guy made the pressure that caused #22 to fumble. Freimuth is the reason for the Steeler loss.
