Great videos and advice, I’m local to the Rocky River area and appreciated the tips and strategies you employ.

Really enjoyed this video, great catches especially the third fish. Great explanation and breakdown of the techniques used on that day. Nice to see the centrepin come out at the end. Big 👍 from me. Adrian TNA

Thanks for the tips about the depth at the Black wall. I adjusted my depth to 6’ and caught a buck there this morning!

Hell yeah! Glad it helped. I’ve found it’s been fishing deeper there than in previous years. Maybe due to all the heavy floods in the fall

Hey Roman . . . This The Vookster from Fishbrain . . . do you find that fishing certain colored Marabou jigs work better as the Season progresses ?
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I haven’t seen too much change as far as the season goes... more based on water clarity. Eg when the water is clear, white is killer... when it’s a little muddier I’ll move to pink / black

Nice job! Helpful tips! Use a fly rod (show how to “gear up” the line leader tippet strike indicator

Haven’t used a fly setup for steelhead before but maybe in the future! Might do a similar video for a centerpin setup soon too

Definitely enjoy the commentary with video man! When you're jogging those tubes, do you jig it just enough so that your float kind of Bounces slightly? I cant really tell in video. Thanks bro...keep it up
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the format and great question! Yep I’m always looking to have my float bounce just a little. Not enough that it goes completely under for a second. Just enough that I know the bait underneath is wobbling

Centerpin set up: how long was your leader? What size float and were u running any shot?
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I had an 8lb leader about 30 inches long. The float in this video was 15g, but I’m only using that heavy float while I’m getting started. Will get down to 8g here soon. No split shot here, just a sliding egg sinker on the mainline. Let me know if that makes sense!

Nice job. I was out there yesterday with no luck. Any way to tell if a bobber down is just hitting bottom vs a strike? I tried to set every time, but not sure if there's something that would tell me if I'm setting the hook too aggressively vs. it not being a real bite.
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Good question, and good approach. I always set the hook when a float drops. As far as reading the float, pay attention to the way it’s leaning before it drops. If it’s leaning forward the whole drift, that might mean the bait is dragging behind it and has a lot more potential to snag on the bottom. Whereas if it’s setting straight up, you might just be dealing with some finicky fish. Hope that helps!

Came from Fishbrain! So are the steelhead running rn/is it a good time to go out and fish for them?
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Yep, they’ll be in the rivers now up until early may. Any time in that range is a great time to go out

@@ReelRomanFishing I'm going to fish the Lake Erie Tributaries which aren't really rivers. I know there is steelhead in them but is now still a good time?
@ReelRomanFishing3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewlebaron9321 Recently when the water's higher I've seen people catching in those smaller tribs... although I've been sticking to the main rivers so far this year. I usually find the the small creeks / unstocked tribs get a bigger push of fish in late Feb / early march. But that's just my personal opinion and I do know some people catch in the smaller tribs throughout the whole run
@andrewlebaron93213 жыл бұрын
@@ReelRomanFishing last year we had some luck in march in the smaller tribs. Thanks for all the help!
