You guys have it so easy! Where I fish you need clear slip bobbers to rig a certain leader line to a certain split shorting pattern that will attach to a certain hook with a certain knot

I have been fishing Lower Niagara river for over 30 years. It is important for anyone going down there to always bring a buddy. It is so easy to fall and hurt yourself. My friend broke his ankle and if he was alone he probably would have died of hypothermia because he couldn't climb up the bank to get away from the river. Also up until the end of November the water level will rise about 8 feet within half and hour starting around 11am. So watch where you are standing.

is there a way to know the raise times of the river?

Have you tried using a slip bobber? You could be fishing with a 4-ft long fluorocarbon leader tied to braid with either a double uni-knot or alberto knot, and that knot would become your slip bobber stop. This way, you don't have 4 feet of line hanging off the end of your rod and you can reel in most of the line.
@thundermistlures7 жыл бұрын
That is very true...a slip bobber does make it much easier :)

Thanks Ivo, your videos are awesome. I want to go out to the niagara region in Ontario to fish soonest but I don't know the area at all. Pls can you recommend area a new angler like me can go fishing?
@thundermistlures7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tiffany...easiest place to go would be the Queenston Boat Ramp (plenty of great fishing from shore) or the Whirlpool which also has great fishing and lots of room, but it is a hike to get down there and then a good hike back up :)

Awesome. Thanks.

Hay Evo your only 4 feet down do thay come up if water is 12 to 15 feet or would you adjust it?
@thundermistlures4 жыл бұрын
they will come up, but the closer you can get your bait to the bottom, the better your chances of getting a bite :)
@hardtomello3645 жыл бұрын
How did you get down there I don’t fish the Niagara river because it’s a bit of a struggle to get to places to fish and the few easy spots are absolutely crowded with people
@thundermistlures5 жыл бұрын
usually there are a lot of people, but if you go to the whirlpool, there is plenty of room so you can spread out :)
@outdoorsman93845 жыл бұрын
Hay Ivo,,your fishing four foot under bobber,,how deep is water,,what if you want to fish deeper water do adjust depth,but how can you go down ten to fifteen feat,with bobber it will get in way of fishing rod guides,thank you
@thundermistlures5 жыл бұрын
to get to deeper water, you can use a longer rod and thus have a longer lead - or - you can use a slip bobber system :)
@BillOfAllTrades20167 жыл бұрын

Can I ask a dumb question? How on earth do you use a bobber in the current like that? The times I've tried on my river, it just whooshes the whole set up right back to shore. How do you keep it out there away from the shoreline?
@supersabrosinho7 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing
@thundermistlures7 жыл бұрын
In this case, there is a bit of a bay, so the current runs from point to point creating a current edge which allows my bobber to stay away from the shore line :)
@chrome_is_gold7 жыл бұрын
