For sure anytime. I'm retired & not moving ever again. I have a son-in-law near Salem that we try to get up to every so often to drift fish the Rogue River. I would love to catch up with you whenever we do get back to Oregon. Fish on.

Sounds good! I retire one week from today. So we’ll see if I can make this KZbin gig a decent part time job. It’s not quite there, but it’s growing quick!

12:10 you dipped you rig.... When I'm alone, slip my pole into my belt, loosen the drag and grab the line... If they still have fight in them let them run.... But it looked like you took the fight out of it. Nice job!

Your Steelhead Tales Series is off to a banging start! The Land of the Giants, I love that! Beautiful steelhead! You earned that one for sure! I just want to throw out there again, about how well you take care care of your gear! It is impressive. Another successful day for Rage Fishing! 👏👏👏 Standing ovation!

Do you use exclusively spinning reels? Or do you mix in a bait caster like with a steelhead slammer spinner - lure? If so why?
@RAGEFISHING Жыл бұрын
Another good question. I have casting reels in my arsenal for specific techniques. For instance, when I’m drift fishing I almost always use my G.Loomis 1045 Steelhead Series Casting rod with Shimano Curado reel. I like the control of the casting reel for casting accuracy and being able to easily free spool with the click of the thumb for extending drifts. I also have the casting version of my spinner/spoon rod for days where the river is high and I want to easily extend drifts as with drift fishing, it’s just easier to do with a casting reel. I do not like using a casting reel for float fishing, I’ve tried it and just don’t think you can have the uninterrupted drift needed for a proper float like you can with a spinning reel. Here’s an old video where I go over my 5 favorite steelhead rods, I explain the reasoning a little more in detail. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lX7SkqeFq9yjl7ssi=LBJUXUKq9csAulls

Getting ready to tie up my remaining #1 blood run Skeena hooks to leaders. Do you add an offset bend to the SKEENA? I also have a few Owner hooks that come offset. Also hope you have a chance to talk about the new “tailout” model hook. They look a heavier gauge in pics.
@RAGEFISHING Жыл бұрын
I don’t add an offset, I don’t think there’s a need with those. The skeena has plenty of thickness, I thought some tailouts and they look too heavy, like they might sink and cause an unnatural drift of the bead, but what do I know! 😁
@archit2796 Жыл бұрын
You know a lot. I will not offset my #1’s, and stick with Skeena this season. 😎👍🏻

There are so many better rods then the GL2 in both the G.loomis and Shimano line up. In fact the new Compre is only $99 ac feels similar to a similar to traditional IMX but more parabolic with similar recovery rate and K-frame guides!
@RAGEFISHING Жыл бұрын
No doubt, but I have some awesome GL2 rods in my collection. I still have it on my to do list to try one of the Compre’s. I think my main complaint with the 1265 set up was the Symetre 4000 due to the weight. I’ve been spoiled fishing the Vanfords.
