My great grandfather Sam Blaga worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for almost 40 years . He immigrated to America from Romania , Birghis ,Sibiu Transylvania ( Austria-Hungary) on 1904 . He was a pipe inspector , i have lots of original documents of him , pictures and finally i found his grave on Coitsvile , Jackson Presbyterian Cemetery . I am proud of him , he was so brave and dedicated to his job and comunitty , also to his familly , friends and relatives .

@N9155E, you want to know why American steel industry cannot compete with Europeans, Japanese and Chinese? It is because of American nearsightedness, lack to innovate, lack to invest on new technology and processes. Modern processes, modern equipment, modern gear, well-paid professional workers and most of all, specialization. They can make bulk steel cheaply in China, so the way to compete is not volumes but margins of high quality steels and alloys.
