Listening to the demo finally made me realize what I think really makes this song for me. I have gone from bass, grand piano part, guitar solo but what holds it all together is that electric piano that is playing the chords, not the synth. Seems to set the mood for the entire song, it's all just perfect.

This is more likely taken from a "work-in-progress" cassette copy that some musicians take away, to either listen to how recordings are progressing or to give to musicians that may be coming in for a session, than from a demo of the song. Keyboard elements that are present on the finished recording are featured here, so I'd say its a WIP.

That's Anthony Jackson, Freddie wouldn't work with B/F until the 2000s.

Thank you for posting this gem. Glamour Profession is my favorite Steely Dan tune. I miss the horns though in this cut. Great stuff though...

Until I heard this isolated, I never realized how much Daft Punk borrowed from this song for "Get Lucky."

"All aboard the Caribe Cannibal""!!! Sounds so close to complete in a lot of ways... but no Steve Khan... wonder if he's the one who "took a tape home so he could flesh out his parts..."! Whoever did it, I am really glad they did!!!

I've heard this a number of times before, but every time something about the stark crappy quality of Wendel's "playing" sounds so sinister.

About 2 or 3 bpm faster… no Larry Carlton fills and obviously the bgv’s are not done but essential everything remained the same.
