This and Peg are so much fun to play and have so many similarities. If you can play one, then you can play the other. That chromatic drop from D to C then to G to F is so badass and rocks.

It seems complicated when you first listen but to me it's because of how they stack the chords. Once I could hear you play it I had to laugh it is so perfect. Thanks

Chuck Rainey...OMG now wonder Steely Dan has such cool bass lines. He is in a video for right-hand bass technique where he is using all his fingers with alternate picking patterns like they each were guitar picks. The only person I ever seen use such a bass technique.

😲 I can't believe he did the tab on this song perfect!!! Every Note!!! This song, oh my gosh it's not really hard... it's tricky...I learned 50% from teacher and 100% by ear. Yeah that's 150% because when you go into this song, there's no stopping until the end! AWSOME COVER 👍

I've been wanting to learn this one for a long time. This will help me greatly. I love the way you position the camera so that we can see what you are doing on the fretboard.

This is a very good cover. It's really hard to play behind on these songs (funk/R&B style) if you are from the Rock world and not used to it... You are close! He is also always sneaking in diads you can only hear on a really nice stereo/speakers or headphones.

@BennyTheBassman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gustavo! Appreciate it man. I use a program appropriately called "Transcribe!" to slow down the music when I'm lifting it. As for hearing bass clearly, that's just my ears, and a lot of practice doing it.

awesome, what type of strings are you using?

Is there an error on the tab.. looks like the double stop D string 11 G string 11 both sliding to the 12.. but looks like you and others are playing D string 13 G string 11 sliding D string to 14 G string to 12?

Hey Benny! Big fan of your channel. I found out you live in Toronto. I'm actually moving to Toronto for graduate school and I've wanted to get into the live music scene since I'm a bass player. I mainly play electric and upright jazz, but I can play pretty much anything. Do you have any recommendations or tips? Thanks in advance.

Hey Kyle! Cool! Toronto is a great city. I really hope you're able to find success here. Are you going to graduate school...for music? Or something else? Because I'd say the single best way to make great and lasting contacts here is by attending some form of post-secondary music program. You just meet so many people that way and are immediately opened up to lots of opportunities. Other than that, there are several good jams around the city, and lots of very cool weekly gigs that sport some of Toronto's finest musicians just playing in bars.. a great place to meet people. Happy to go into more detail about that with you. When do you make the move? P.S. like Declan said, the Horseshoe is a legendary Toronto venue. Been around forever.

@@BennyTheBassman Thanks for the reply. I'm going for my masters in Divinity and Theology and I'm moving in December. I have a professor here at the school I'm currently at who's toured all over the place with Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center and he gave me some names of players in the GTA who are always looking for new guys to play with.
