Oh my god that is the most beautiful mandolin. Steve Martin obviously dominates the banjo, and everyone else is exceptional as well, but just wow. Mandolin of the heavens.

It's a damn shame it took 12 goddamn years for someone to full heartily agree with you

I just saw Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers at the Orpheum Theater in Sioux City Friday night. They were AWESOME!! Steve Martin still has his same sense of humor and works it into his music sets. The entire group is so talented, but it's a true pleasure to watch Nicky Sander on the fiddle. I would encourage everyone to check them out if you ever get the chance. Well worth it.....and I'd go again!

The Steve Martin Brothers album had this tune on the flip side. All that music got me through some dark times. Thanks Steve.

and just think, Steve picked up the banjo so many years ago as a comedy stunt. Look what he does now! Amazing!!!

Not only is he a wild & crazy guy but also an amazing banjo player ! Saw him at the "Beef & Bottle" in Gainesville in the early 70's !

Just saw them in Mesa, AZ last night. Wow what a show. I'm a classically and jazz trained musician and haven't really ever listened to blue grass except for Bela Fleck and Nickel Creek. Their concert was one of the best concerts I've ever been to: funny, highly entertaining, and great music.

Perfect! Hope to go to Lansing to hear them. I play guitar, banjo and mandolin and can tell you that it took them a life time of dedication and sacrifice to play like this. Wonderful!

It's amazing what a lifetime of virtuoso banjo playing, an amazing comedic skill and a tightass band can get you.

Steve Martin did my quadruple by-pass surgery in 2001. ? ? Actually it was Dr Steve Martin of Chattanooga, Tennessee. As you can gather, I am still among the living. If "The" Steve Martin had walked into the operating room, I would have walked out. Being from bluegrass country, ol' Steve does a bang-up job on the five string.

Awesome! Kudos to Steve. I wonder if he if really a part of this group or just like an honorary member that plays with them on occasion. In other words - did he give up his day job? If I was a betting women - I bet he loves playing music even more than acting/comedy.

100x times more skilled than any "stars" of today. Culturally-unbiased guys of any age would strongly agree, but for teenage girls it's "boring" and not some "hot guy" over-the-top excitement with zero substance, musical ability be damned. Every generation of them sets music back decades, and makes actually talented musicians more worthless and circus clowns more valuable. And, as always, the guys follow the girls' lead like puppy dogs with their tongues hanging out.

While this is some really good playing, it's a far cry from bluegrass music.
