Keep your old cylinder, a hydraulic cylinder shop can make a new chrome plated rod to replace the broken one, and you'll have a spare In case it happens again, or the seals ever start leaking

Do you have to return the broken cylinder? The is a cylinder shop in Cincinnati Ohio that can fix it. I could use it for the log lift on my log splitter.

One thing of many things in life have learned I'd always listen to the wife when on the job because women have a special attribute to figure things out without complicating it until they come to color and color changes. LOL

Just found your channel, nice videos. I will be on a similar mission soon. what was the grade (%) on the steep part that you thought a car won't get up? And why can't you just leave those big rocks as part of the driveway for stability? Unless they stick up too much but you could just build a bit of gravel around them.
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the % is, but my way of telling is pretty much, if you walk up and are out of breath at the top, it is probably too steep. lol The big rocks stick out too much, if we left them, it would be a hazard and never ending problem. - Meg

Have you thought about a team of horses? They might handle the steep terrain with narrow accesses better. I have seen a team of horses handle logs well.

I had the same walking tractor problem.RK mechanic came to our property and fixed it. The hydrostatic drive has a linkage below the center space just below the seat. It sits very close to the hydrostatic cooling fan. I tried what you did and it did not help. The mechanic simply popped the black plastic cover off and it was a ten minute adjustment. He used the outriggers to lift the tractor to watch the drift to stop as he adjusted the turnbuckle. Different from the one you were working on.
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
I did see 2 turn buckles down there close to each other. One is easily accessible from the right side, but the creep adjustment turn buckle is the one underneath, more in the middle of the tractor. What do you have, Jason? RK24 or 25? I forget.

Another great video!! I have a question for you. Do you have the flip it around bracket for your seat? I ask because I notice that you just kinda turn around to use the backhoe and don’t rotate the seat. I haven’t installed the bracket yet on my tractor.
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken! Glad you liked the video, and yes, my seat has the lever to flip it around. When you see me cowboying the backhoe like that, it's pure laziness, haha! If I'm going to be working an area for more than 5 minutes, I'll do the flip-a-roo. If you want a good laugh, we'll have to record Meg trying to flip it around. Love teasing her. 😉
@kenwalter8672 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutsandWineberries Thanks for the reply! I’ve heard some people complain about the seat but there are comprises with everything. My thoughts are that sharing the same seat provides a more compact tractor than you get with a backhoe that has its own seat.
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
My only complaint is you really need to finesse it to make the 180 turn. Just takes some getting used to, but it's certainly something they could improve on. I'm with you. More compact 👍 allows me to turn around like I do and grab something with the backhoe without much effort. Just a sore back. Haha!
@kenwalter8672 жыл бұрын
@@WalnutsandWineberries I’m working on installing the 50lb tilt, flip, twist, ouch bracket now. Really seems like the retractable side of the seatbelt is in the way when the seat is in “backhoe” mode?

Sorry to be a merchant of doom, but I would be concerned about that tiny little crack at the beginning of the bottom weld on the excavator boom and the risk that it will propagate. Maybe think about doing a proper weld repair before that happens?
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
Probably needs a plate over the dented section to reinforce - then weld. I was surprised there were gaps between the welds there. Should be solid all the way through the stick.

I would have dug a bigger hole and put rock in to make dirt more compact À
@WalnutsandWineberries2 жыл бұрын
Thought it was more useful along the side for banking the turn. We have a heavy clay deposit there. So much, that I'll feel the backhoe struggles here and there with it. Compacts down really good on it's own. I kind of like seeing the rocks along the side too.
