Love the progress and the updates!!! May i suggest drilling through the 1/2'' rod and making a pin for the steering shaft, I have had issues with mine popping out after hitting large bumps in the road and then not having steering at all . Apin would be a nice mechanical safety for that.

Thanks Richard. I need to remove the rack at some point to replace the rubber boots, so I'll drill a hole then. Cheers.

Enjoy your sharing! May I make a suggestion, clean the paint to bare metal before any welding it makes a stronger, non contaminated weld. You need to do that around steering and around hot rods to be safe.

Kkmjust mount something under the dash . Cut the steering shaft under dash. Put a gear on it move to over about 6 " make another steering shaft with a gear and go through the firewall to the hole in the frame . The shafts with the gears can have a heavy duty chain on it. All hidden under the dash and safer than all these joints!

Great work on the steering and kinda worried with the so many links on the middle... Yet it still functions... Only comment is about the metal bar stuffed into the black frame... And how it hits all around on rotation... If there could be some sort of a bearing to be stuffed to avoid friction between metal bar and frame that would be much safer and less noisy every time u steer...
@ScottRods

It's not actually hitting anything.

You should have inserted a tubing thru frame for shaft to work smooth and have no binds

You would be miles ahead if you use a locknut on the heim joint to keep them from swiveling in the nuts you welded in place. Decent bit of engineering otherwise, Dave

@ScottRods
