Stef. I thought it was curious that Audis new "S" cars are now DERV's. But then why not? I used to have a 2010 BMW 330d coupe (245bhp & 383 lbs/ft) and even though it's 0-60 was a very sprightly 6.1 seconds, the amount of torque it had made overtaking a sinch. Come up behind a slower car (To be honest, 99.9% of cars I met were slower than me!). Gap in traffic. Foot down and gone. And for a DERV, it's straight 6 engine sounded quite good too. Nothing false piped into the cabin via the speakers as you get with some modern cars. Great video though. There aren't many "sporting cars" that'll come near to these DERV sports cars for MPG!! Even in my 330d with my heavy right foot, I'd always get near to 40 mpg and on a long trip, it'd be into the 50's!! Sad that I ever sold it. Whimper! Whimper! :-((...

An absolutely gorgeous 'practical' sports estate for sure. The only thing I cannot get out of my head, as with the S4, is that diesel motor. I was keen on the new S4 before the bombshell. Great cars though, and will have to stick to my 2018 S3 Sportback for longer. Great review Sir

What were they thinking with the fake exhausts so on a cold day it’s going to look like there is a fire under the car as the vapour in the exhausts evaporate and nothing comes out the back ??!!

Thanks for another great video. I understand why manufacturers are trying to move to touchscreens for all controls, but I will never understand why people are so happy to let them. Zero tactility and finger grease all over everything! I am surprised how Audi left those radars up front looking so unfinished, as even Hyundai/Kia have no problem hiding them in emblems. To be honest, newer fast Audis are so refined and subdued that I'd rather be driving a Tesla. Do love the wagon though!

Steff I hope your not tempted by the dark side,a diesel S6 really, it sounds like an amarok pickup AND it's got fake exhaust tips and it starts at over 67k ffs. Regards Simon.

Got the new S4 Avant on order. Glad you like it more than the S6. Hoping it doesn't disappoint compared to current-model S5 Sportback... It's annoying all these press cars are kitted-out with stuff you can't even order in the UK at the moment.

Matt Fisher how do you feel about the change from petrol to diesel? The S5 exhaust note is really nice, especially on gear changes. I’m on the look out for an s5 sportback to replace my bmw 6 series!

D10 YAM I test drove an S4 saloon (over-specced press car) and I liked the new diesel engine’s grunt. I do a lot of motorway, so extra economy will be welcome. If the new S5 sportback was available to order today, I’d probably just get another... I will miss the exhaust note of the petrol v6, it was much nicer on S5 than previous A7 (same engine). I’m waiting on a longer test drive when dealer gets their fleet car, with option to cancel S4 order if I don’t like it. Not sure what else to go for... wait for RSQ3?!

I’d say go for the new Audi A7, brilliant car, will be doing a review of it soon on my channel, can’t see a better alternative, and I source cars for people so give me a shout if you need a good deal on one, got my mate one for 399 a month

Not worth the money at all! Great powerplant but the S4 has same engine. The S6 should have got the SQ7 powerplant. The fake exhausts in my opinion are an absolute joke and an insult.

This car could be the best looking, best tech, most comfortable, drivable car in the world but with those fake exhausts and fake exhaust noises Audi have absolutely destroyed it and they want 67 grand for the privilege!! I feel sorry for the poor sales guys in Audi garages that have to sell it
