So glad to see a tank update! Always look for it in the background of your videos, and have been able to see it progress, which is awesome! Love that you point out all of the corals first - a true reef tank enthusiast for sure - I think anyone with a reef tank is more excited about them than the fish (as cool as the fish are). I would love to continue seeing updates on the tank - especially as you put new SPS into it!

I love the gorgonians! The Invasive Palythoas make the tank looks more natural!
@lchamp79462 жыл бұрын
Gorgeous elegance coral! Real showstopper and beautiful centerpiece coral for the display. Consider getting rid of the anthelia before it spreads and takes over the tank. Very invasive and hard to keep from spreading because it will fragment into other areas/rocks of the tank once it runs out of space on the rock you attempt to sequester it to. A similar looking coral to replace it with is heterogeneous pulsing Xenia. Xenia can also be invasive but is much easier to control because it grows from a centralized stalk body and doesn’t generally fragment into the water column. Plus, it pulses in lower flow water conditions which is just flat out mesmerizing to observe.

Been waiting for this one! Beautiful system, I'm a huge fan of how a tall tank looks but I guess I wouldn't know the pain until I actually keep one long term. 😬 2 years into my tank, I'm now fighting those encrusting corals like encrusting Montis and Cloves that got onto the main rock structure... I enjoyed them as space filler while the more desirable corals grow in, but by then the encrusting corals gained a foothold and it is almost impossible to remove completely. I'd seriously try to stop those encrusting corals while they're still somewhat containable...! Beautiful tank, awesome fish choices, I'd love to see more!

love it! my roommate in college had a 60 gallon and 55 gallon salt water tanks. its quite a process, but very beautiful when everything is balanced properly and the fish and coral are happy. For anyone who doesnt know, the blue hepatus tang, if it has a closed circle on its back, like Dori from finding nemo is several hundred dollars for the 1 fish.. funny enough if it has an open circle they are much cheaper. very fast and strong fish, but it can be succeptible to ick. this definitely adds to the power bill. Ps Graham, if you shoot on phone (android has this maybe also on iphone) you can go to pro mode or some settings and change the Kelvin temperature to get color correct without a clip on lens to try and correct it. one thing you didn't cover was the lighting! thats a key part of the process. what brand, or more importantly, color temperature(s) is it putting off?

Awesome video haha, I actually like these "into the life" style videos as they're different to your usual content. At first I thought "oh man that's got to be a pain getting someone to regularly take care of the tank" then I remembered the podcast where you actually said how you used to work in a fish store etc. As a side note though, you said in this video "I actually need to trim this back at some point, and do x at some point".. I think you should've just made this a video of you actually doing maintenance on the tank. Not too late though, could still do another video of you actually trimming things down, explaining what you want where and the overall vision of the tank? ^^

I love this because now I know there is something that I have and that I built that far exceeds what you have. $50K on a Reef Tank buys you a nice starter kit. 😂 Let us all know when the hobby really grabs you. Full props though... Yours is a kick ass build for sure and few would really appreciate the detail that went into it. It's beautiful and in a couple of years it will be stunning. Stay with it. It takes solid dedication to master. When you want to see a $100K+ system, come visit. I'm sure it will be a great conversation and we will both come away having learned something.
