A big thanks to Julian Schmidt for the translation and film dubbing!
For the past two decades Stefan Schmidt has been considered to be one of the most successful guitar pedagogues in Germany.
He completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt with Stephan Werner (1987-1991) and Prof. Michael Teuchert (1991-1994). His students have been awarded more than a hundred prizes at national and international competitions and festivals.
So remarkable has been his success with young students that his teaching concept and methods have led to invitations to present workshops and lectures at music schools or universities both in Germany and abroad.
Since 2011 he has taught didactics and methodic of guitar playing at the Leopold Mozart Center at the University in Augsburg. In 2015 he received the prestigious acknowledgement „Friedberger Flügel“for his artistic and
pedagogical activities.

Maybe the most outstanding guitar pedagogue of the history of our instrument... I just owe him a lot because I learned so much from his experience and passion! What it seems to be a miracle it's totally possible for Stefan! A totally inspiring genius for me! 😉👍 PS: And yes... please upload the interview with the original German audio! 😊🇦🇹🇩🇪🇨🇭

This would be so interesting, but as a native German with second native Language English I get so much mixed up 😣 I would so much appreciate the original German version or an English version without hearing German in the background

I’m really amazed with your students, especially with Leonora Spangenberger. I really hope that one day, I can meet her; the Bach’s music played by her are one of the best.

The capo discussion was very interesting. I have never heard of it being used to train relaxation of the fretting hand. It makes very good sense, I wish I'd known about this long ago!

We see how immediate time, intensity and rapport play into the success of the teaching/learning event.I am very curious how this can be accomplished and what this might look like with the latency time of online instruction.

This video is very useful. Thanks Stefan. Guitar teachers need training. I would be glad if you would recommend me some pedagogical reading, exactly what you teach, how to teach a student. It is not an easy job.

Lieber Stefan Schmidt. Alles, alles Gute

Many comments under this video ask for the German original. I would say, do it in German or in English and I mean one or the other, but not both at the same time! The way this video is made is really quite ... not easy to listen. It's actually awful. Yes, the English voice is louder, but the German is also still quite good audible, so my brain cannot decide to what I should listen. After five minutes I almost have a headache.

Key are the parents… if they structure the daily practice of the kid at home, the kids develope big time… the problem starts when parents start the pressure/ „love withdrawal“ game … then they mess up their own kid - thats why so many pro classical musicians have weird personalities… messed up in their youth …
