Except for drums on most tracks, he recorded all of this material himself. Which he wrote 100%. He was 24. This is pretty pretty impressive stuff.

This music unfolds like a picture book full of stars, where birds come chirping, spinning farandoles, cracking rattles and dancing wizards. From rounds to nursery rhymes, the arrangements display their mystery, the songs fill with fervor and instruments have the roundness, brilliance of chimes

I've listened to enough obscure prog rock on KZbin through the years to conclude that the Germans were way ahead of any other country in that respect. It's not even close. I can't surmise why they are so far ahead in terms of volume and quality in the prog rock scene. This record is another fine example.

I think England holds the number one status when it comes to progressive rock with bands like Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd King crimson, Yes, Emerson lake and Palmer, Genesis, The Who in the 70's, Curved Air, a lot of the Beatles later albums etc...

@@LewDanLascivious8276 The UK bands you mention are/were all very well known. On the other hand, the German prog rock bands were also plentiful but not well known outside of a select audience in Germany. Bands such as Aera, Agitation Free, Altona, Amon Düül II, Birth Control, Coupla Prog, Eloy, Embryo, Emergency, Erlkoenig, Frumpy, From, Gila, Grotesk, Guru Guru, Iris, Jane, Passport, Kollektiv, Kraan, Lake, Messenger, Novalis, Out of Focus, Sperrmüll, Volker Kreigel and many others were awesome but unfortunately had limited commercial success. The UK was no doubt prolific in its output of prog and I prefer to listen to the less commercial ones such as Camel, Caravan, Cressida, Nektar, Nucleus and Soft Machine, to name a few.

@@Xsplot I have all of the material from a few of those bands like Birth Control Eloy, Amon Duul II, Frumpy, Area and Agitation but I just think that the English bands were more well-known back then compare to the talent in Germany and other places back then because things were a lot more scrutinized by people who were more musically-inclined of what went through the studios and they recognize the talent level in England was better as opposed to now where all the music that's put out is put out by business people who don't know as much about music like they were back then and a lot of the English bands were more advanced compared to the German scene (that I feel at least) were not as good and that's why the English bands were more well-known.
@Xsplot Жыл бұрын
@@LewDanLascivious8276 The main reason why 70s German prog remains obscure is due to the political issues in those days (the Berlin wall). The Western music industry was closed to Western German bands, even the best ones. But they had a thriving music scene. The Beatles that you refer to in your list of prog bands (their later material) played their formative years in Hamburg.

@@Xsplot I don't know about that because if something is going to benefit America money-wise then I don't think they have a problem doing it especially if you consider "Operation Paperclip" just after World War II in which the American government brought over 1600 Nazi doctors and scientists to extract information from them against the Soviets during the Cold War and the American government and CIA got the information they wanted from them after threatening them of being imprisoned or executed if they didn't get that information. Then the American government made these Nazi doctors and scientists members of the American government and CIA for giving that information to them. Just do the research on "Operation Paperclip" if you want proof.

Interesting stuff. For any Yes and prog fans, the Roger Dean lettering on an album cover will almost always provoke a listen, and fortunately this music doesn't disappoint. It's not Yes or Genesis caliber, but it's definitely enjoyable enough.

I'd love to hear this album, however I am wearing headphones.....whenever I am relaxed and getting into a quiet passage of music, KZbin keeps inserting loud annoying commercials because I won't give in to their scam of paying them for commercial free listening. Mafia -like tactics.....

That's a bummer. I've disabled ads on my videos as I don't make revenue from them, so quite unfair they force them nonetheless. Best solution would be an Ad Blocker, available as browser extensions.

Em meu top 10 entraria o "Alturas de Macchu Picchu" do Los Jaivas. "A Matança do Porco" do Som Imaginário. O unico album do Veludo, gravado ao vivo. E ao menos um album do Ekseption ou Trace, afinal Rik Van der Lynden é incrível. E sem dúvida "King Arthur" e "Voyage to center to the ehart" de Rik Wakeman

@@klaasbil8459 What's your top-10 list?
@klaasbil8459 Жыл бұрын
@@andreassorg7294 Good question, and one I could probably expect. For starters, I'm glad that I am not restricted to listening to just 10 albums, as I love variety. That said, I would include most of the Gentle Giant catalogue, probably with exception of their first album and the last few albums. GG are my absolute favourite band. The Lamb might also make my top-10, it is the best album by Genesis. I don't think much of Peter Gabriel's solo works, even though for Genesis it was a big loss when he left. For Yes, I certainly don't consider 90125 to be their best album. I'll have to check out Benoit Wideman and Wobbler, I don't know them TBH. Your other listed albums are really good, but wouldn't get in my top 10. A few other albums that should achieve top ranking if I could mention more than 10, are 1976 by Et Cetera, Trilogy by ELP, and Red Queen to Gryphon III by Gryphon. There, that'll keep you busy for a while :-). But like I said, tastes differ which is really a good thing!

With an extensive collection of Prog and Krautrock (by 1976 my collection was over 500), it's perhaps you all that should invest in your collection before talking crap!
