The Wise men did not reach the baby Jesus until some months after His birth. Also there is no telling of how many there was that went to visit Him. Just because the Bible only mentioned three gifts most everyone assumes that there were three. No matter how many there actually were, each king would have had there own entourage accompanying them. Kings did not travel alone, especially on two or three month journeys. Each one would have had as many as forty or more, maybe even one hundred members in their caravan depending on how large of a security detail they had enlisted. Now the shepherds did arrive the night of His birth.
