It is not really backhand not firing in matches that's the problem right now for Stefanos. It is him being hesitant on court due to an accumulation of several injuries over the last year ever since Stefanos Tsitsipas was one match win away from becoming World Number 1 at the Australian Open Final in January 2023. Stef got injured there & then a back injury the 2nd half of the year. Could not get up from his bed in Turin & no training in the off-season. Only rehab. He will need more time.

His backhand will always be his Achilles heal until he develops the ability to reduce the whip and be able to generate more power from it when he chooses. This is why the top players defeat him. They naturally go for his weak spot. His forehand and foot work are what save him, most of the time.
