Gleaner L3 Harvesting Corn!

Here we have a 1983 Gleaner L3 combine havesting corn. Helping haul grain is a Allis Chalmer 7045 tractor.

These L2 and L3's were real beast of machines. I have a friend that converted his L2 to running a 1063 IH 6 row corn head. That thing will run through 200+ bushel corn at 2.5-3mph with really clean tailings, and clean bin samples. I'm of the opinion that if AGCO were to bring back the L3 with some updated features, I believe that they would sell a bunch of them to the smaller and medium sized family farms that can't spend $800,000 - $1,000,000 on a combine.

You have a good point. I wonder why they dont have any smaller machines like this today. A smaller size at a lower price would be a great option for some farmers who do not need a large machine.

@@steiger256 Smaller farmers can still buy a good used combine without a STUPID def fuel system for a lot less than new.

We are cih now ,run gleaners,mostly L2 @ 3 still have 82 corn machine they are corn picking animals

i live in middle Tennessee and ran 2 of the L2's with a 8 row corn head and 20 foot bean heads. If you could get it past the feeder beater it would take it.

Man that one is doing the job like it was new. Sometimes old iron is really good iron and how lucky to get the weather in Ohio haha. It's seems to always be a crap shoot here

@@jimbennett1519 Ya it was about the only decent day we have had in a while. Looks like rain for next 4 days. There ate some more older machines abd newer I would like to get some video on yet this year, But we will see how it goes.

Yeah looks 0:48 like Tues here is going to be real nice but field drainage will be the key. I hope you get some more videos. I wonder if 50-60 years from now if electric stuff will be looked back at with this kind of joy haha

I still believe these were some of the best combines ever built. You had to really look hard to find a colonel behind them. There was no such thing as rotor loss. That is so commonly talked about today. These machines if used properly did a first class job

Great machine! Our family here in Georgia had the M2 with the 4 row corn head. You literally had to haul butt to harvest corn, it needed a 6 row head ,but that's the head that came with it from the man we bought it from. We also had an International 1460, it was a 6 row machine, it was a Beast! We also had a 510 Massy Ferguson which was a piece of junk! The transmission was the problem with the 510.

Have an L2 gear jammer variable speed in shed. Quit using at under 1500 separator hours. It was just a disaster would not run a full day without something not working.or breaking.. I always wondered if the hydro models were built better. I see them advertised with 3 to 4 thousand hours on them. Now running 2188 love it.

Love the old gleaner many year ago I orked for a J I Cae dealer and e old gleaner combine I a locky enoughto atten a couple of gleaner ervice chool I on acouple of A and a couple of A one ith a 3ro corn head.

Ran a new L2 one year. The electric over hydraulic thing was a joke. Had nothing but trouble with that machine from one sensor to another.
