Great comparison of the supers, explains why I got my yellow and white 982 so cheap over the summer .

There is really no bad super, Just some have more options than others. The older yellow ones dont bring as much money But I will buy any I can at a good price. The supers are my favorite by far.

@@steiger256 funny enough I got one of my other dream machines after commenting. I picked up a 1978 John Deere 316K. The one year only 316 with a Kohler 16hp engine. Got it for a steal of a deal.

@@steiger256 I found my yesterday after it was posted for a day. He had it for $700 wasn't as pictured and non running he says it runs great. Key switch was cut. I got a new one and stuck it in this morning and spun it over good. I paid $400 oh and it's steering wheel is all busted. Supposedly it ran this summer. I really wanted a 140H3 or a 318 but this was too good to pass up.

Great video showing the differences between all the generations of the 82 series Supers. I always thought the 1912/1914 were pretty neat being they were so uncommon (and I agree that the black stripe decal looks better). You bring up an interesting point about the tunnel covers. I've known the 1912/1914/early 2072 had a different tunnel cover with a cutout for the rear PTO switch, but after seeing your video it appears the 1912/1914 had their own version and the Onan 2072 had its own version? My 2072 has the slot for the height measurement, and has the D-shaped hole on the left instead of the right. But a later 1987 2072 would have the same (or similar) tunnel cover as your 1772. Seems like CCC was really doing some odd stuff in that '85-'87 timeframe.
@steiger256 Жыл бұрын
It is pretty cool your 2072 has the pto cutout and height gauge as well. So there must have been around 4 or 5 diffrent tunnel covers. I did forget to point out un the video, But there are also some strange cutouts on the right side of tge frame on the 1912 that are not on my 982s or 1772. These cutouts are factory and I have only seen them on the 1912. If you get a chance take a look at your 2072 and see if it has them. I am curious what they were for and why the did not contiue with them.

@@steiger256 I'll check next time I am near it. I've also seen power steering on some 1912's and heard it was a factory option for them before the 2072 came out, but I have no way to confirm it.

Really informative! I learned a few things from you…Thank you! Quick question, do the rib tires in front steer easier than your turf tires? I have a manual steering Cub and was thinking about switching from a front AG tire to a 3 rib or possibly 5 rib? I have 3 acres of hilly property to mow + 300 ft drive to plow
@steiger2566 ай бұрын
Glad the video helped. The 3 rib tires do steer the easiest. If you are using it ti cut grass tho when you turn they may cut the grass. The V61s 5 ribs are pretty universal, But may steer a tad bit harder. You could always add power steering. It is not cheap, but it does help a lot. Hope this helpes.

Does the 1914 be a good machine to plow(dirt), snowblow with, and go to shows

Yep. It is the same as a 982 just different decals and number. It is a great all around tractor for many tasks including taking it to shows.

Thank you for posting this vid. I've gathered a small collection of Supers, 8 total. Mostly 982's (4). But what is that gauge you pointed out that protrudes threw the tunnel cover for? My buddy that has a huge collection of regular supers along with diesels says that power steering was an option for the 982. I have yet to see or herd of any 982 from the factory with power steering. I just pick up a 982 with factory 3pt, pto, and front hydraulics, but no power steering. Was that an option for the 982 and do you know of any with it from the factory?
@steiger2568 ай бұрын
There was no power steering on a 982, Unless someone added it later. 1987 was the 1st year power steering was avalable. The slot with the gauge is a heait meter for raising and lowering the deck. There are numbers on a decal to give you a idea on deck height. I love the supers. I have 5 now, And would like a few more myself.

@@steiger256 Thanks a lot for the quick response. I really appreciate it. My last 982 that I just got last Friday has that same grill and screen as yours. My only one that has that grill and screen. It makes sense now that the ones with the smaller black bars in the grill getting burned is because they weren't designed to be there in the first place. What state you in? I'm in western NY down by the Pa boarder.
