One of the necessary mods for this guitar is to replace a steel washers to a thrust ball bearings under the tuners. It's really works!

Upgraded pickups on mine as well (a „must“ with this guitar). I agree with your assessment that this thing is a cheap copy, with low-level quality of the parts, especially alloy constituting the bridge. However, here‘s the thing: mine now sounds much better with upgraded pickups, yields actually pretty good fusion lead-tones, it stays in tune very well in case you lock the bridge, and at least in my case it plays well with very little to no fret-buzz (had to level the 2nd fret in region of the G-string, though). Furthermore, it is light on the strap, also well-balanced, and ergonomically pleasing when played standing up. This is a „geometric“ feature of the Steinberger-Design and at least in my case, it works very well with my arm-length/hand-size. So, long story short, I am liking this guitar much more than I should, for a $400 cheap replica! I wish Gibson would re-make the classic Steinberger design, with higher-quality parts and tone wood, American craftsmanship and great fretwork. This would still sell, in my humble opinion.

Igot mine playing very well too with a lot of work, as you can see. With the sewymour Duncans in it sounds great. With the trem only downwards. it is playable. And yes, it feels good. Thanks for the comment!
