IR คือ Infrared (ต่ำกว่าสีแดง) เป็นแสงช่วงคลื่น spectrum ที่มนุษย์มองไม่เห็นครับ สีแดง ตาเปล่ามนุษย์ มองเห็นได้แย่ที่สุดในสามสี Red Blue Green ครับผม ดังนั้นช่วงคลื่นที่ต่ำกว่าแดงคือ อินฟราเรด ตาเปล่าถึงมองไม่เห็นแล้วครับ ส่วนกล้องบางชนิด มันตรวจจับช่วงคลื่นของแสงต่ำนี้และแปลงเป็นภาพได้ทำให้มองเห็นได้ครับผม
