Stella Artois vs. Heineken - Which is better?

Stella is easily the winner here for me. Even, unfortunately Stella is no longer an import for the United States. It's made here in the states. Still good.

I think the “drinking both beers in the USA” is important here. I would go as far to say some areas of the USA have a relatively “fresher supply”. Midwest and Stella is gas anywhere around St. Louis.

Totally agree...Heineken kind of gets boring after a few sips. Stella makes you want more, and is much more balanced and has a creamier mouth feel somehow...it also contains maize in addition to barley (depending on where it is brewed). Stella from Belgium is much much better than Heineken, but the under-licenced versions are only a bit better ; )

Have never tried the under licensed versions of Stella. Thankfully the one we get here in Canada is imported from begium. The licensed versions are never quite the same.

When I tried Stella it instantly hit me as Heineken-like. But I definitely prefer the Stella it’s more well balanced and it has a little bit of a skunky taste that I kinda like.

Stella Artois is light Weight Soy Boy Beer with no After Taste in fact brewed In Budweiser Plant I just had one taste like Hybrid Budweiser. This is true lol. I enjoy both of them and find them both refreshing in their own way. I can personally say I have drank much more Heineken in my years. Most likely due to the setting I grew up in. Stella is more smooth or crisp to me. Heineken is more bold and bubbly (not sure if bubbly is the correct word I want to use but is what is coming to mind atm) We had many “dirty 30s” of cheap beer or “river water” I called it and even more 40s or tall boys of malt liquor 😵 some “dank” ass beer -dank as in rough lol. This is why I can appreciate Heineken so much because it was ALWAYS better than that. If I had to choose between Stella and Heineken I would prob be biased to Heineken because of my experiences with it but Stella is definitely good and I can see why anyone would choose Stella over Heineken.

It depends on where it is brewed. Stella sold in the U.S. is produced in the U.S. It is a poor excuse for the real thing made in Belgium.

For some reason, Stella makes me tipsy, but I can enjoy a whole bottle of wine and feel totally fine!!!! It seems that different types of alcohol affect you in different ways. I do like Stella but I can only drink a very small amount of it, all I had was 2 pints and I felt awful! I can have 2 pints of another beer that is only 0.5% weaker and feal completely sober!!!! I don't know why some beer gets me drunk and other do not!!!! I'm a social drinker so I only drink what I can manage to stomach! Is there a reason Stella get mis intoxicated but other stronger largers DON'T!

I won't knowingly buy anything that is owned by AB Inbev, but in this case, I so much rather drink Stella over skunky Heneiken. Stella have a dark-ish brew called Mightnight Lager which I thought was pretty decent. Their hard cider is pretty decent too.

I will have to go back and look at your reviews to see what you scored each beer to see if you are consistent 😜. It’s always amazing how many differences you can sense between two similar beers when tasting side by side, and even more interesting how hard it can be you find the words to describe those differences.

I don't recall how many Stellas we had prior to the review so there may be some discrepancies. That being said, feel free to contact our customer service department to log any official complaints 😂 It's so true! These 2 beers especially have such similar notes, which made for a fun challenge. Deep, thoughtful beer meditation was required.

Late to the party but ive recently had these back to back. Stella is very smooth, and very light. Good malt backbone with little hop presence compared to heineken. With that said, heineken all day. Its got that mildly "dirty, skunky taste" that i know and love. Stella is good but almost TOO clean (not a bad thing but i can get much cheaper beers that hit the same notes.

It's very close. Stella is slightly on top for me. It's easier to drink everyday. When I had a bad day at the office, the Heineken goes down better. Another interesting versus battle would be Heineken vs 1664. The original 1664, not the "blanc" good content

I personally can barely tell the difference. I think they're both wonderful light skunky beers. When I was still drinking I would usually go for Heineken just because they had cheaper cans, and made better cans of beer than Stella. Stella bottles were slightly better than Heineken bottles, but Heineken cans to me are far better than Stella cans.

Ok so I've tasted both as of today. Heineken Yesterday and Stella tonight. I found both are acceptable to go with whatever dinner I'm eating. I also enjoyed Germany's Spaten.

I've never tried real Spaten unfortunately. The version of it that I can get here in Canada is brewed under liscense by Labbat and it's not very good. The real, imported version is one of Alessandro's favorites though!

Heineken is more plain and pure. Stella is more flavorful and unique. It all depends on what you want. Me personally I just want to have a pure beer that doesn't have to much flavor to it other than the purity of the basic taste. It never gets old for me

Funnily enough I’ve been drinking these two this weekend. For me it seems like Heineken hasn’t changed much throughout the years whereas Stella has ( and not for the better) I like both for different reasons, Heineken is as it’s always been and no surprises with taste and carbonation, Stella has more taste but for me not as drinkable. Both are a very poor second to Stella unfiltered through

Stella has started relying more and more on domestic breweries brewing it under liscense. So it’s not the real, imported Stella that we get in our stores a lot of the time. At least not in North America. Which probably explains it. In Canada for example, it’s brewed by Labatt which is a really subpar brewery.

Hey dudes. Please let us know where the beers are brewed each time. It is an important consideration. These beers are very different depending on where you buy them. I would not touch either if they were made in Australia for example as brewed under licence here is a disaster. That being said, I have had both brands in Europe many times and would always choose the Stella as it is just a better overall product.
