I dyed my hair with henna for a decade, then the pandemic hit and I got bored and wanted to play with colors, and the entire internet stressed me out with this!!!! Took so much searching to realize using pure henna is PERFECTLY SAFE TO DYE OVER!!! Even talked to my hair stylist about what I'd done after and she basically refused to touch my hair with dye until it grew out. And thus I became a "professional" at home hair dyer lmao. Thank you for doing this video!!

My hair dyeing routine is that I bleach my roots and then apply henna. Doing this for years and I am doing just fine. The only "issue" I've ever had with henna is that it is quite impossible to get rid of after years of using it in case you want to try something els

I used Khadi copper henna and I ended up bleaching my hair to try to get rid of it. I was trying to go platinum but henna stains the hair so no matter how light my hair got from bleach, it still had an orange hue in the sun. I tried color removers and many other methods to remove the henna, but Schwartzkopf Blondme bleach and 20v developer with paper thin sections in foils was the most effective. I achieved a level 10 but the orange henna tint was still noticable even after toning. I was able to go over it with a neutral level 8 blonde color and the henna didn't show up anymore. If I could go back I never would have used henna, but it did make my hair feel amazing.

I have been dying my hair with henna and also removing it occasionally for the past 5 years. I watched your video and it appears as though you mixed both of khadis red and copper. Their copper color contains a mixture of herbs one of which is indigo which will show green when it is being removed. I have always stayed away from anything that contains indigo as it is very hard to remove. I love henna and it is very good for your hair but it is a pain in the butt to remove and it does damage your hair in the process!! Love your videos Stella 🥰 Best of luck 😘

The indigo nightmare is real I had a mix of pure henna and a henna blend. When I bleached it, the pure henna came out no problem, the henna blend went mint green/blue and took forever to come out. In the end I had to use colour theory with semi permanent dye.

The green didn't look that bad on camera. The pinky red is really nice!

Yeah, Stella you just have to let the henna grow out nothing is going to remove it. Sorry girl henna coats the hair strand. Glad you did some hair stand test. ❤😊 your hair looks really nice 😊, sure grow fast 💨.
@jenrosejenrose74179 ай бұрын
it's not that henna makes the hair melt, it's that bleach doesn't remove it from the surface of the hair, which you can see. I always used body art quality mixed with coconut oil on my hair and knew it was a commitment because it never really faded at all. You can have henna mixed with either indigo or senna for variations in color and it still won't melt but yeah, bleach gets funky funky. I assume you're going berry or something in the direction that will blend nicely with the henna. That deep burgundy was gorgeous.
@signsofplay9 ай бұрын
That berry color is beautiful! With the 10 volume it wouldn’t be damaging either. Love that!

Here in Brazil we have henna and Henê. Henna is just henna. Henê is a kind of relaxer that dyes your hair black on the process, and will definitely fry off your hair of you put any other type of chemical process on it. Once you start on henê you can only do henê until you do a big chop

You definitely do not need to cut off the hair for a strand test(coming from a hairdresser)
@kjones929 ай бұрын
Right. Makes no sense to me. Why cut off the hair when there’s a 50/50 chance the hair won’t even break. Plus i feel the hair reacts better to chemicals while attached to your head but it just could be me. Overall, You just lost 3 pieces of hair for nothing but it’s her head, so.

I actually did do this (over hair that had a henna based color and permanent dye) and my hair didn’t seem too damaged and lifted to a yellow blonde. but when I put a semipermanent over it, it turned brownish, which was interesting. Thanks for doing this video!

I used to dye my hair with henna for over 2 decades…crazy orange copper red and used Logona colors. I’ve bleached and dyed and never had any issues. The only thing one has to keep in mind is…it won’t come out…it will grow out. Maybe not if you only use it once, but if you have layers and layers of henna, you will have to start mixing less red tones with the red until it’s grown out and then start using other colors. That’s how I did it. I slowly changed into brown tones until the red was gone and I could switch to a caramel tone (chemical color “Wella” now). However, I’ve never had healthier and thicker hair than during my henna time. It just puts layers over layers and strengthens the hair amazingly! The whole dying process became too much after I suffered from a double frozen shoulder and couldn’t do it myself anymore. To this day, I truly think henna red hair is the most natural and beautiful red!

I used henna for the first time in 2022 and eventually my blonde came back. It was a semi-permanent henna (which apparently doesn’t exist?) I’ve dyed over it and bleached it a few times (I have pretty strong hair) and haven’t had much breakage. I’ll admit though that the red tones from the henna are pretty stubborn, so there’s a bit of brass in the back and has been hard to get past dark blonde/light brown.

Been dying my hair with henna for 8 years now. I still love the color but if I ever want to change it I now know that it's safe to do that. I mainly use khadi hair colors and I think I've used one or two different brands before but that part of the hair is probably already grown out and cut off. Thanks for the reassurance!

I just re henna’d until it grew out lol.

@xEventHorizonx9 ай бұрын
I had khadi henna on my hair and tried color oops color remover. It would remove the henna if I left it on for two hours and rinsed like crazy, but eventually the henna oxidized again and came back after a week or two. I tried multiple times with the same results. Only bleach seemed to break through it and even then the hair always had an orange sheen in the sun.
@drebae954 ай бұрын
I did it 5 times and it worked! I henndigoed 5 times prior, 2 step process so it was in my hair good. The color remover got all my henna off but my indigo, the indigo stayed in for life lol i had to put a round of henna back into it because the blue wouldnt let any hair dye penetrate. So i had to put henna back into it to balance the tone out, then i was able to dye over that. Such a process i will never henna or put indigo in my hair ever again 😂
