The reintroduction of the V8 may be exactly what CDJR needs to restore profitability in the absence of strong emissions regulations but prevailing consumer demand inevitably will arc to EVs . So CDJR should use this opportunity to develop an EV platform that will serve them well for the next decade or more. That means they should have TESLA in their sights during this process. It clearly was not when they revealed the Charger EV: it is underdeveloped, expensive and uncompetitive. There is nothing absurd about an EV muscle car, but the final product must evince the vision passion and commitment of its maker. CDJR must also redress the flagging quality and reliability of its products. Quality control is a science and not magic. Forgive me but CDJR should be allowed to wither on the vine if they assume that their consumer base will just mindlessly purchase their products that are haphazardly assembled and unreliable.

I think the NewCo could make some real money and make CDRJ great again! :) I'm more of a fan of the old school cummins (2 or 4v pre catalytic converter) but a tried/tested V8 is my second fav. Both have excellent aftermarket/performance parts and both can go 1/2 million miles with proper preventative maintenance.

I don't know if this all said and done. Congress, EPA, NHTSA, CARB, and likely some other regulatory agency I'm not aware aren't all onboard. Trump is limited in what he can do. It's Congress that needs to get off its complacent butt and take real action.

Trump can end the epa and nhtsa with the stroke of a pen. They are executive branch agencies

@@TKsGarage Congress has passed laws "authorizing" the EPA to do certain things. I'm not so sure it is that simple. If it is (turns out to be), great. But, if it the case, why then does it take so long to change anything. Seems like the changes last Trump admin took until about the end of the term (if I remember correctly). The Biden admin seemed to be able to reverse items (almost immediately). NHTSA the same way where Congress has passed laws authorizing certain things? What about the "kill switch" that was buried in the IRA? Looks like it would take Congress to reverse that ill advised requirement?
@ksorsomeplaceСағат бұрын
@@TKsGarage The other big thing is that the manufacturers really need some sort of permanency to the gov't regs. Since CARB is playing a redundant role, Congress needs to step in (Clear Air Act) so manufacturers have one set of rules to play by. Since CARB is entangled with the Clean Air Act, I'm not certain a pen can remove it from being?

All great and wonderful, except for the itty bitty problem that there's no right price for the wrong product. CDJR hasn't proved to me they remember how to make a reliable vehicle, especially after Carlos decimated the engineering, procurement, and production staff and sent morale down the crapper so badly someone forgot how to make a wire harness that doesn't unplug itself from the engine after 2000 miles. I can see nothing they can make that I'd even be remotely interested in even if they put a Hyundai-esque 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on it. With reliability being as bad as it is it's just not worth my time to have to take it back to the dealer to fix one thing after another. I had enough of that on my Volvos and I'm sure as s**t not going to do that again. Besides, if fuel is going to be cheap again there's I'll just keep my '92 F150. It already has a V8. No reason to get another.
@smk456541 минут бұрын
Hate to break it to you, but the Chinese make a 4 door sedan with 1,548 horsepower. So the V8 isn't going to cut it anymore, the Hellcat is woefully underpowered compared to the competition. Tesla, Porsche, Lucid all make 1,000+ hp cars. Also Ferrari was spun off because it has value, Ferrari is worth $82 billion and Stellantis is worth $36 billion.

As much as we all want a V8 in a Charger in the coming years, it still is a small window to catch. If decided to bring the V8 back, it still gonna take at least a year to prepare the new Charger to fit a V8 in, and add more time to test it, and most likely, it won't be the 5.7 or the 6.2 or 6.4L. And then imagine in 2 years from now people finally get to buy a Charger V8, but the reality is that not CDJR, nor Stellantis, not one other Automaker is sure for the future, because, what if in 2028 US Elections there is again a switch of political direction and all the now scrapped laws from the Trump Administration come into effect again under the next POTUS? The investments would be huge for only two secured years of V8, and no one would want to take that risk if both Reps and Dems don't sign a treaty or something about not touching the EPA, EV-Mandate and stuff from the current POTUS period. Just my two cents on the issue.

“Just 14% of oil and gas executives plan to significantly increase capital spending this year, according to a Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas survey of 132 firms. In fact, more oil executives indicated they plan to scale back spending than increase it.” More ICE engines and less production combined with fewer EV’s is going to mean increased gas prices. I expect large increases by the summer unless drilling greatly increases. The only way that would happen is nationalization of the oil industry that would obviously not happen in the US. Also there were no true federal EV mandates. Even the increased EPA standards that are going to be repealed means would have been easily met with hybrids. Sure, there are still state level mandates but that’s not the same as a federal mandate.
