I was looking to buy a new leftover 2023 challenger scat pack 1320 in Florida. On Autotrader they were discounting it $7,800 off sticker price. When I contacted the dealer and asked for an out the door price they came back with a $$ number that seemed way off. So I asked for a breakdown of the numbers and low and behold they had added in a $3995 Mopar advantage package, plus another fee of $1495 listed as “non taxable fees” another $395 listed as “taxable fees”, then their $999 dealer fee, the sales tax, then a $295 service fee to register the car. ..I told them I will wait another 3 months and try again..

I work at a Mazda dealership and can confirm the margins on new cars are surprisingly thin. Most the money is made on accessories, used cars, and service

The Dodge/Ram dealership here in Waldorf MD has massive discounts on all their 2024 and older vehicles. They just started this in last week.
@robertratliff6030Ай бұрын
They want MSRP or above yet if you lost your mind and bought one of the chargers, your resale value would drop by 3 model years. 23,24,25. It makes no sense to purchase until a real fire sale happens. Buying today vs 12 months from now, you will still have to have all the fluids flushed , the tires replaced, the battery replaced, and maybe the exhaust. You would have to treat these "new cars" like a barn find.
@IwannadriveАй бұрын
You said it. A $3000 incentive on a leftover two year old car is an insult. Especially when they kept raising the price more than $3000 over the previous years.

They’re pricing them like they’ve already appreciated in value. Maybe in 5 years if they never come back but they should be heavily discounted right now.

I actually got into an argument with a dealer of this exact thing. Pricing them like they are collector's items. There's a reason why TRX's are still sitting there rotting @ sticker price years after.

Just went to their website out of curiosity. Those Hellcats are still sitting there because they're asking $3,000 over MSRP. Pure insanity.

Our local dealer in Louisiana has an SRT Durango for $84k, sold out of other new cars. They have 5 new cars on the lot. They have a few used but not many. Ram and Jeep has plenty.

I purchased a 23 Last Call Challenger a few months ago, window sticker was over 61k, got it for 46, 5.9% financing and they delivered it. Buying a new 2 year old car has it’s benefits, you’re going to get a good deal and you’ll have relatively low mileage after a couple years of driving.
@chrismay2298Ай бұрын
It's now worth the trade in value of a two year old car... You're underwater from the start.

Gorgeous Cars but I’m not into giveaways…in my experience they usually go to someone who knows somebody who knows someone in the giveaway… I usually just donate to charities that actually help people in need 100% nonprofit. I once saw a man walking with no shoes and floor was over 115 degrees so I took off my brand new Nikes and gave them to that man after I bought him some food in the gas station…

TK claims real discounts (from Stella) will be announced shortly to meet the 100,000 year end goal Stella set months ago. Believe it when I see it.

The dealership gets a discount when they buy in whole quantities, so that dealership needs to lower to $500 above their cost and move them, otherwise they will lose ROI soon.

Harley Davidson dealers do the same things. 2 years old units, unsold, wanting over list prices. Complete with aftermarket junk bling.
@danc2014Ай бұрын
Motorcycles have always been sold new years after the production date. They do not have as much changes as a car.
@karrpilot7092Ай бұрын
@@danc2014 Only a fool would pay list prices or over for a 2 year old unsold unit. I realize that motorcycles don't change much year to year, however, the dealers think that they are sitting on gold. Harley Davidson dealers will fold up, go out of business, and never have a sale. They would rather let another dealership absorb their stock than to ever give a customer any sort of deal.

the factory warranty doesn't "kick in" until the first owner takes delivery, correct? And if they can't even sell the V8s, then theres zero chance they'll be able to move the Charger EVs
@Hats1976Ай бұрын
So 2 years of the warranty is gone, or does the warranty kick in when the car is purchased? I'm not sure how that would work on a new 2 year old vehicle
@ronaldwarner5206Ай бұрын
At this point you have to buy a gently used scat of hellcat to get the best deal. The prices on these are crazy because the msrp is crazy then you deal with dealer markups on top of the list price you see online

Not just lot rot, warranty usually starts when they're put on the lot. Does that mean warranty is half gone, just sitting there?
