Stellar Blade Was So Much Better Than I Imagined (Review)

With no expectations going into Stellar Blade. I've been surprised almost every step of the way with Shift Ups ability to create one of the most polished AAA games I've played In years that Is so much more than Its assets.

I actually dropped FF7 Rebirth to play this, and when i went back to Rebirth I just felt bored, this game is so underrated. Maybe it's a good thing cause popular games/franchises always seem to end up disappointing after a while. I'm not saying I hate Rebirth, just FF7 Remake was so good i liked it more than Ghost of Tsushima, so I was expecting Rebirth to be the best game of all time, but Stellar Blade was that instead.

@@MeliotdasD-ONE-M Stellar Blade really is one of those games that just does everything A game should. Excited to see what happens with A sequel if we ever get one. Would love to know where the story goes. Maybe playing as Raven In A sequel could be sick. Or prequel.

@@JaredRPG Yeah I'm looking forward to hearing Raven say Mother Sphere in every sentence, her fight is one of the greatest battles I've had in a video game, would love to play as her, the game this reminds me the most of is Drakengard (Drag on Dragoon), i really hope Square remasters those games.

It really Is. After going back, and trying the boss rush mode. The game just impresses me more, and more as I get better with the combat mechanics.

Damn bro, great job on the review. I honestly think it is the best one I've seen for this game. I agree with basically all of your criticisms, but I like the fact that you also offered potential solutions for the problems mentioned instead of just complaining or pointing them out. Those solutions were also pretty solid, and I think you got all your points across pretty clearly. Overall, great job 💯. Hope you're enjoying the boss challenge mode now since you liked the game's bosses.

10/10 for me. I can't really think of a game I've liked better overall than SB in my 37 years of gaming. The Witcher 3 with its expansions and some old school games like Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past or Super Mario World for the SNES are in the same class for me. Something about this game sets it apart from any other game I've played in the past 8 or 9 years since the Witcher 3. It's not overly difficult with no story like a Souls game but it's also not suffering from current-year politics.

It's funny, i got FF7Rebirth at launch but haven't popped it in yet. Got Stellar Blade at launch, played through it twice, now on my third playthrough. It just plays so good and ended up being one of my favorite games ever

This Is the biggest thing about Stellar Blade. Going from mobile to A full fledged AAA game, and landing this well the first time out really Is truly impressive. Now they just need to take what they learned, and make the sequel even better If they make one.

I played the demo when it came out and had so much fun that I got teary eyed. A game that was fun! Crazy. 😢😂 9/10 For me. The story was great but it's heavily buried in tons of text on items. I would like more lore given in cutscenes next time. The last two boss fights are insane difficulty jumps. I would prefer a little less spike in difficulty next time. I found the rest of the game very fair. I wanted more rail slides. 😂

That's fair! Those last few bosses were definitely A step up In difficulty. But they were pretty dam epic, and I would of loved more rail slides. So much fun.

With how I play the game getting the third ending that requires Lilly's gauge to not be maxed out (Not getting to Edios 9) was annoying. I had to play through the game 4 times! lol

Understandable. I do wish they would of been A little more clear on the mechanic. Like A way you could check the bar or just have It present In your menu.

Stellar blade was a 9/10. I’m with you on the drone; I personally wish it had been its own artificial character, and not a voice extension of Adam/lily. It would give us a new character and also make us worried about the drone’s safety. Also, especially with lily, I did notice the characters all appearing to be from different worlds/games

Also, Rebecca did a fantastic job with Eve’s voice. It reminded me very much of Lara Croft. I however, did not in any capacity enjoy Adam’s voice and could certainly do without the phony, breathy talking

Definitely did not expect Stellar Blade to be such an amalgamation of different action game types, like character action, Soulslike, Sekiro, survival horror or old skool PS2 games, but in the end, it all worked. Had lots of fun playing the game and exploring the world while enjoying the soundtrack. I figured the melee combat should be pretty good, but I was surprised at how well the shooting was, even with how easy it is to run out of ammo while exploring. There are parts of the level that I didn't really like such as locations involving killer turrets, and the platforming can sometimes be nitpicky where Eve will hop onto something when I don't want to, or refuse to grab onto something when I need her to and end up falling to her death. Tachy Mode is a mixed bag. It has bailed me out of boss fights, but the stun it does is too good. Story is not as good as its inspiration it drew from, mainly Nier Replicant and Automata, and I don't find Eve to be a compelling character after the intro compared to Adam or Lily. On the other hand, it was very easy to overlook as I find the overall story and cast to be serviceable enough to the game overall. I also played it with the Korean dub, so I find the voices to suit the cast more, though there are lines I find better in English like Lily's 'Can you please, please slow down?' Currently on NG+, and I understand why people praised it so much. Those new skills, gear, upgrade levels, and costumes really do add much to the replayability. Also, now that we have a boss rush mode, it's definitely alot of fun to fight said bosses without going through the whole game again. Overall, love the game even with the controversy.

This guy sounds like he’s related to Kermit the frog, I just can’t stop hearing it in his voice! But I enjoyed listening to Kermit’s cousin reviewing Stellar Blade. 🤣 I’ve spent a lot of time playing this game, and although I’m a Story Mode bum, I’m slowly going through a fourth playthrough just for the sake of spending more time in it, so it’s a genuine winner. If you like the fishing in this game you should play Tales of Arise on Chaos mode but you will need to buy the DLC to unlock that difficulty also tales of Arise doesn't really get good until you beat the first major boss
