Stellar X2 vs. Stellar X3 | Microphone Head to Head

I totally flubbed describing the high pass filter, so I'm issuing a correction: The intent is to combat the proximity effect and other low sounds by filtering out low-frequency sounds. Definitely didn't explain it well so sorry about that!

I think the X3 is a slightly better mic for you to my ears. However, I have a lower Baritone voice bordering on Bass and I tried both of these mics and the lift in the X2's air range was a better fit for my voice. Both are great mics for lower voices because they are buttery smooth, clear, and articulate

I'm actually quite surprised how much of a difference I'm able to hear in this even after KZbin has compressed it to oblivion. If I ever decide to upgrade from my X2 I'll be considering the 3 for sure, good video!

I feel like the x2 had a more crisp and compressed sound which I think is ideal for studio recording. I can see how someone who records dialogue would lean towards the x3 tho because it gives a more wider and open sound while not compromising on the audio quality. I purchased the x2 because as an engineer I like to have more control over adding things like High pass filter so using a plug in makes more sense to me anyways, but again with dialogue I can see how not having to make those changes in the middle of a stream would be beneficial. Nice comparison! I am also having them both and also a barritone, with a voice lower than you. The Stellar X2 sounds overall brighter. I would say overall the X3 is better sounding but if you have to make your voice real bright and light then the X2 is a better option. X2 is also significantly smaller with it's shock mount that's one adventage if we like to do livestream~

Great video! No apologies necessary. Not listening on my best headphones, but my sense is that the X3 captures a bit more of your low end (could be a pro or con, depending on your needs/preference), while the X2 has a bit more “air.” Subtle differences, I think, between very close cousins! I feel like the high pass filter may cut out a bit too much low end-I’d probably be inclined to exercise more granular control of that via the DAW rather than the switch. For your voice, I’d probably lean toward the X3! (disclaimer: I’m listening through wireless earbuds rather than my “flatter” headphones at home)

Yes he does. He doesn’t have a bass voice. Booth Jukies voice is bass. This guy’s a baritone.
