Today is May 17th, 2020. I just happened to notice this was uploaded 4 years ago. My brain categorizes things based on when they happened relative to major events in my life. May 17th, 2016, was right before I met the love of my life. We got married, had a kid, and now expect another in a few months. I went from a single dude with no cares beyond what I was gonna play that day and what I'd eat that evening, to a husband and father with two extra lives to protect and nurture. I dunno. Felt called to share that with you. Great soundtrack, by the way.

no, i didn't really try and assume anything. sorry if it sounded like that. i was mostly referring to societies "Stuck in the old ways" so to speak. either by religion or culture. perhaps "first world" was simply bad terminology..
@marcocappelli22366 жыл бұрын
Nah! It's fine! We generally assume that first world countries are mostly perfect, which is odd when you think about eastern Europe countries. And yes, I'm putting all eastern Europe countries in the same bag... :P Countries in South America are actually starting to get tired of their leftist corrupt goverments, like Lula in Brasil, Kirchner in here, and several other countries. Eventually we'll join "la crème europea"! I don't think religion is much of a hinder in our progress, but that's another story in the US. We just have some loonies who go to Cerro Uritorco in search of aliens, left-wing fanatics who are carried around like fishes, and the starndard poor-ignorant-but-good people. May I ask where you are from?
@brandons.70566 жыл бұрын
I'm a American, although when i say religion i'm referring towards fanatic nations that aren't willing to change. Religion doesn't really interfere with science and politics here in the US, our government is very secular (which i prefer honestly). just to be clear i'm not bashing those things, i just don't like them intertwining with the progress of a people or nation. The poor and ignorant are always the most open to learning and changing.

Sigma Tauri (1:31:44) is beautiful and wonderful on so many levels. The fact that it is progressive (like all other songs for that matter) in itself is just great, that it builds up. For me, it sounds like a beautiful plce in space, shrouded in mystery, the fragile flute makes it sound lonely but peaceful. And when the drums finally kick in, it makes us want to adventure to this place and explore it. It gives me hope..

As a composer and a big fan of both 4X genre and intense orchestral music, my only note would be that for something that you're supposed to listen to for many, many hours continuously, this soundtrack is very intense. It's also very nice, but even in epic movies, this kind of music usually doesn't last for more than about 30 minutes. It's a bit like when you're at war in Civilization V for hours - eventually, you just run out of adrenaline and have to take a break. Not because of being tired of the game, but because you're drained by the music, at least if you've kept it at a sufficient volume the whole time.

A very impressive OST although I do not know the game. I often listen Tangerine Dream and other Berlin School composers (e. g. Schulze) furthermore, Vangelis. In some tones (listen to the first minutes of Deep Space Travels) this OST has a reminiscence of the latter. Tones are dense and rich, the synthesizers are in osculation with the symphonic orchestra. Perhaps the three most beautiful movements in my (subjective) opinion are In the search of life - wich is a gemstone with its ethereal sound and finely toned repetitive sequences, depicting the moments of searching for something unknown - Deep Space Travels and The Celestial City. Currently, I am in preparation of my PhD, and if I have to deeply concentrate, I listen music, usually organ or Berlin School. This masterpiece is also a great and powerful material when highly concentrated, inspired and focused state of mind is needed.

Every song on this OST is award worthy. They all evoke a sense of awe and wonder. You experience these songs as you forge your humble homeworld into a galactic superpower. You work together with federations of other like-minded civilizations or grind them all to dust to be nothing more than a distant memory as your Xenophobic Militarist Imperium continues inevitably onward to domination of the stars. You desperately fend of the endless hordes of the Prethoryn Scourge hoping to just be able to fight another day or build an impenetrable barrier against the onslaught of the Unbidden. You transcend the Precursors themselves to End it all with a Reckoning that shakes the Galaxy to it's very foundation. All while listening to this fantastic atmospheric music that absolutely immerses you into the universe you choose to create, or destroy. 10/10 one of my most favorite games and OSTs of all time.

There are similarities to be sure, but Stellaris' soundtrack is far more laid back and relaxing. While not true for every track, Mass Effect has a greater emphasis on suspense and urgency, even though both soundtracks share a lot of similar synth sounds. Example of Combat Music - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ67oo2VftqBoJo Though it would be great fun to blast the ME soundtrack while trying to survive against an end-game crisis that's gone too far, or battling it out during 'War in Heaven'.

Celestial City seems just... Y'know, Vigil's theme. The one that made us all cry, and if it didn't then I feel sorry for it must be hard living without emotion.

I can see this with "Vigil" (the menu theme) or the Citadel tracks from Mass Effect 1 but not really the rest of the soundtrack and definitely not Mass Effects 2 or 3.

It bothers me that the creators of this music are not recognised at all here, This music was created by Andreas Waldetoft including performances by the Brandenburg State Orchestra.

The beginning is so reminiscent of bladerunner, interstellar and the operatic scope of Star wars. Stunning.

The big "revealing trumpets" (Bwaaaaaaa bwaaaaaaa *bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmm....) Remind me sooo much of Star Trek: First Contact. I can see the Vulcan removing his hood at that moment.

You mean at 3:00, right? I thought it was more like a (musical) quote of Vangelis' famous Blade Runner opening, but without literally using the exact same notes (for obvious reasons). It sounds like a hommage. The composer was clearly inspired by the soundtrack of Blade Runner, or it could have been an explicit request from the producer of the game.

Celestial City reminds me of the end of the second movie when he dies out in the ash, it makes me really sad. I love it though, amazing how a song can move you so much.

This music carried me through so many 13-hour study & revision sessions for my exams in uni. Everything else disappears and the only thing that matters is me, the screen, the pages. This soundtrack helps me concentrate like nothing else. Now that Uni's done and I have something like a grunt-level graduate job it's helping me retain focus as I fly through spreadsheets and repetitive data collection and processing. Thank you Paradox and Andreas for giving us this music and carrying me through my academic career. PS. The reason why I had to undertake that crunch in the first place may or may not have been because I'd spent much of the rest of the semester playing Paradox games instead of studying, but that's neither here nor there.

Won't happen because the country that has the most possibilities and capacities to make these dreams happens is also the country who elect guys like Trump as a nation leader and decision-maker. You think Stellaris, you listen to this beautiful music... dreaming... you think of space travel, pushing Mankind to further progress and civilization... ... ... then you think the most technologically advanced country is led by a guy who think isolationism, agressivity and racism is the answer to prosperity and believe injecting disinfectant into blood can cure a virus... Dream reality... Fuck our dreams... Humanity will never leave Earth... we will go extinct before having the advanced technologies for that... thank to our poor and desesperate choices of short-sighted leaders and the too big mass of equally short-sighted people who indirectly (or not) put them in power...

@@LeKain08 Maybe its that sort of frustration and dissatisfaction that will in fact PUSH humanity to leave Earth. Thats been the impetus of colonization for centuries. The world has grown too small, and people are chafing under the thumbs of systems that no longer have the capacity or the willpower to serve them. There's nowhere else for people to go now. No new continents to settle. No frontiers to stake a claim to. There's no freedom to build a better world anymore, no foreign shore to look towards, to risk everything in order to start a new life. And at this rate the only way the world will change is with cataclysm. So hold on to that attitude, and work towards finding freedom. Don't give up on all of us just yet. There are plenty of us just as pissed off about it as you.
