Stellaris: Necroids Species Pack is now available!
The Necroids Species Pack features a brand new selection of portraits, civics, ship sets and other cosmetics for players who don’t fear the afterlife, and a unique Necrophage origin with new civics.
The Necrophage Origin offers players a powerful primary species which consumes others within its grasp, blurring the line between cult and empire with three unique civics. New cosmetic changes will reincarnate playthroughs of Stellaris for long time players, while also bringing new life to killer empires.

That's exactly what I want to do. With a lore that's basically around Dr. Frankenstein being corrupt, and continuing to bring corpses back to life. This ultimately causes a war with humanity (how do you fight back against an Army that can be reanimated?), and leaving 2 subsets of humans, ones that have been revived from corpses, and the normal humans who are left.

So many people called them Necron ripoffs that honestly I was disappointed (funny 'disappointed' not outraged) to find there was no Necron ripoff portraits in the pack! To be fair to Paradox, aside the reveal trailer having Necron 'black and green'' architecture as a most likely intentional homage, which will never come up in-game, Necroids were never very Necron in actual function: Necrons are one specific biological race turned into one specific machine race, whereas Necroids are any biological race turning into your also biological race. Edit: Some people had the great point that they're more like the Kett from Mass Effect Andromeda which is actually more like it.

@@FortressLordJP193 I get your points, but not really, at least from my perspective. 1. Necroids and their death cults are more like Necrontyr (Necrons before they turned into machines). You don't have to be assimilate others. It's just one of the options. You are just facing death and seeking immortality (or just longer live). 2. Necrons are also using other species. Well, they are often just purging them, but not always. Sometimes they will make slaves (for example check their project ,,apotheosis" [tl;dr: they are trying to become organic again]) or even assimilate them (that's rare). So at the end both Necroids and Necrons are just species raidind others to live some more time, as I wrote before: specially if you will turn into machines. And as I wrote at the begining: that's just my point of view.

Necroids are obviously Necron-inspired but are definitely still their own thing. The Not-Fires of Definitely-Not-Bio-Transferrence notwithstanding.
