Nearly three centuries ago, in the tarnished brass of a shipwrecked expedition vessel, naturalist George William Steller might have asked of his reflection, "Am I a good man, or a bad man?" ...but he was too busy saving the lives of the ship's crew and documenting some of the most beautiful creatures the world would never know again. The Steller's Jay somehow manages to escape the ill-fated naturalist's dark curse, and thrives today with a bawdy temperament and raucous wisdom
