Stem Stitch Flower Rose Tutorial by Kayla of Knotty Dickens

Stem Stitch Instructions:
1. Bring the needle up through the fabric.
2. Bring the needle back down through the fabric BUT keep it loose.
3. Bring your needle up in between the previous stitches.
4. Loop your thread around the needle.
5. Tighten your thread by pulling up.
6. Repeat
About Kayla:
In the fall of 2014, thanks to Instagram, I absolutely fell in love with hand-embroidery. I’ve always had a love for arts and crafts but something about hand-embroidery just made my heart skip. Around the same time, I also found out that I was experiencing a molar pregnancy and ended up needing an emergency hysterectomy. During my recovery, I decided to finally start living a full life. My old-soul-lover-of-knitted-sweaters-and-vintage-floral soul that I used to embarrassed about is finally blooming. I’m not completely sure what held me back before but you’ve officially been warned: Kayla is an old lady and loves it!
About the Show:

I absolutely love your flowers and tutorials but is it possible to slow down a bit just in the beginning to show the process. Do a couple of stitches at regular speed then speed up.

hi Kayla, would it be possible to slow down a bit. so far I have watched three of your tutorials and they were easy to follow (thank you :-))but this particular tutorial was a bit more difficult because you were too fast. I'm sure I'm not the only viewer who would wish this. Sandra

It looks like she's using cotton. You can embroider on natural fabrics like linen, cotton, wool even silks.

Hey, I've got a question about the drawings you made. Do you use a normal pencil or special pencils? It's difficult for me to erase the drawings later. by the way your embroiderys look awesome 😍😍

Transfer Pattern Steps: 1. Make sure your fabric is pulled tight in your hoop. 2. Lay your fabric against the pattern. *If needed you can use a light box or sunny window. 3. Transfer the pattern. a. Using a lead pencil. You can erase any marks that are still visible when you are done stitching your piece. b. Using a water soluble transfer pen.. Once you are done stitching, get the fabric wet by rinsing it under water to make the water soluble marker under your stitching disappear. I leave my fabric inside the hoop when I get my fabric wet… this way I do not have to iron. 4. Start stitching. *I turn my fabric right-side-out after I have finished stitching. This is a personal preference. You can turn your fabric right away if you'd like.
