Used to love arriving in Stranraer 1981-1985 off the night train from Euston as a student heading to Coleraine Uni of Ulster. Thanks to Dad working British Rail after free 1st class sleeper, got to board the Antrim Princess and turn left into 1st class lounge for breakfast. Those WERE the days. Sad to see it derelict now..

That must have been an amazing journey, which direction did you prefer,?

@@enterkinmedia I always went north via Stranraer and then south via Dublin (Dun Laogherie) Holyhead because at the time I had a girlfriend in Dublin ;-)

Cairnryan to Belfast may be the sign of progress in getting from Scotland to Northern Ireland but it's very sad to see what the Stranraer terminal looks like now. In the early '80s I used to use the Stranraer - Larne Sealink ferry every week in a 180 Gardner day-cabbed Seddon Atkinson, and loved the experience, even having to be vigilant during 'the troubles' and faced with military check points. Seeing Stranraer now in your video is especially sad.

I agree totally, I sailed out in the 90s with Dukes transport and always enjoyed Stranraer, there is a big development beginning on behalf of an Irish haulier, hopefully I'll do a follow up once its underway, thanks for viewing and for your comment 👍
