Omg! This brings back memories, get out the car and wait to see the ferry coming in to dock..! standing out on the back of the ferry taking in the sea air! Sailing past the long row of stone dices in the sea, and waiting for the captain planning his route by lining up the lights on the two mushroom towers .. best days.. thank you for up loading this! X

These were amazing ships I worked on her sister Explorer in 1997 and as I write this she is currently being towed to her new home in Turkey (after being laid up in Holyhead since September 2014) to be used as floating offices. Discovery and Voyager have both been scraped so Explorer is the only one still in one piece. These vessels always attracted big crowds whenever they entered or left port and will be sadly missed. Great Video thanks for sharing.

+Noseyb'stard 8928 The unfortunate corruption which has led those ships to be scrapped that target ... These boats were sold by Stena to the government of Venezuela , were supposed to cover the route Margarita Island - La Guaira city or Margarita Island - Puerto la Cruz city ; but never operated only led the HSS Discovery and was used as a private club of politicians for diversion and trafficking of fuel and drugs ... They forgot the and but they never talked about those ships , after they expropriated Conferry . Finally .. it was confiscated and auctioned in Curacao , where he bought in Turkey to be scrapped .

I uploaded this video again, but now in the correct 4:3 dimensions. I had to add black borders to the left and right, otherwise KZbin displays a flattened 16:9 image.

brings back good memory's....used to travel over quite a lot on her.....3hrs20mins from the Harwich to the hook...she was a flyer even when the weather was bad.....i remember a few stormy sea crossings that took about 7 hours.....very stable craft with sh t loads of power....there was a time when she ran with the load door on left hand side boarded up....a truck broke lose and took a car with straight out the back knocking the door clean off..mid sea.they started strapping down a bit more then.

Most cost of fuel is taxes and fees. It used jet fuel.. not marine residual fuel.

in how much time was the crossing on that route completed?
@Rick888888882 жыл бұрын
It was 3 hours and 40 minutes effectively. These catamaran vessels sailed at 40 kts (close to 75 kmh). Nowadays they use regular ferries and the crossing time is almost double.

@@Rick88888888 yes I had this Ferry the last time in 2004 was a stormy ride.. from Muenster in Germany - to Hoek van Holland - then the Stena HSS to Harwich, stop over in Hounslow then to Fishguard, Roslare and further on to Athlon in Ireland. Stayed there for 6 Months. Way home alike but then a classic overnight to home. The Ferry coped very well with the rough sea. The sailing next day on a conventional ferry across Irish sea was lots more shaky.. I rented a cabin and slept. When we arrived in Roslare there were plenty of sick bags laying around and a distinct smell in the air.

Yes, it used to be good value. The overnight crossing through in an evening meal and breakfast as part of the ticket too, now you pay about €10 for cornflakes, juice and a tea.
