Thank you for your informative video. I would very much like to know where one might acquire an affordable book charkha. I do find it disconcerting that Gandhi intended the book or box charkha to set people toward self-suffiency through mobility and industry, and the cost of one is easily over $100 USD. I have found some information on how to construct one, but without the skills in woodworking I'm not sure how far I might get. There's barter and trade, but these modes of commerce are fleeting.

Spindles & charkha choices are better quality over the ones I got at Woolery. Mine are crap. They replaced the broken ones & the ones with some of the parts missing but they sent more broken spindles, but they did have all the parts to them. I realized they are crap products & that’s not fixable. Sending me more crap is not what I call fixing the problem. WHAT U NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CHARKHA; 1. The charkha needs replacement parts that I can’t find to buy. 2. The charkha wheels need the cording next to the spindle replaced & I can’t use it until I find a way to replace the worn-out cording & so far & haven’t found that online either. 3. Some charkha wheels use leather, but my guess it will need replaced sooner or later also. . etradinglines.com/products

May I ask what kind of rubber drive band you're using? I tried the cord it came with, and there's not enough friction.

Try a hardware store, possibly show them this film. There must be gaskets in the right size.
