icymi... On St. Patrick’s Day my new commission ‘Step By Step’ featured on RTÉ 1’s ‘A St. Patrick's Festival Celebration’.
I was nervous about writing it, as I was asked to include a line for 32 children from 32 counties across the island. But never fear young people will always shine bright. So a special thanks to all of them for taking the time to get involved!
The score for the piece was composed by my good pal Gareth Quinn Redmond.
It was an honour to be part of the TV show alongside; POMES PENYACH (Lisa Hannigan, Adrian Crowley, Matthew Nolan, Cora Venus Lunny, Sean Mac Erlaine, Kevin Murphy, Bob Gallagher), Mark Smith, Aisling Byrne, Foil, Arms & Hog, Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Tiny Ark, Symphonic Waves & Galway Traditional Orchestra, Hothouse Flowers, Pat Ingoldsby, Ashwin Chacko, Simon Cullen, Soulé, Solus, Eimear Noone, Bazz Ashmawy and anyone I might've missed in the mammoth team effort it was to create the TV show.

I’d like to dedicate this poem to my friend and former SPF head of marketing Edelle Moss, who after a conversation I had with her changed the direction of the poem. I know how much the festival and parade means to her, and it was her passion and insight that was invaluable to me in creating this piece.
