Super valuable video! I have just completed my first 10 hours of pro bono coaching and this video helped me confirm I’m on the right track. I have not completed all the steps in the coaching cycle with any client (the further I have gone is goal setting). I love all the steps so far but it really lights up my heart when I witness people expressing joy when they see new options and hope for achieving their goals.

I appreciated the step by step process. The key takeaway for me was step 4 and working through reflecting and learning from the process the person went through with the coach. Question: if a coach had weekly meetings with a client how many meetings would you take to go through the 4 step process?
@mindvalleycoach
@mindvalleycoach 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad! It really depends on the progress of the client. It could take 1 session or 3 months of sessions. Because the goal might change at any time, the plan execution might have new challenges along the way, and it's very common to go back to other steps and start the process again, after adjusting to the new reality of the client, and other factors like those that could make the process longer or shorter. Also, keep in mind that sometimes our clients' goals might be long-term and due after the coaching sessions are done, so this process doesn't necessarily have to finish with the goal being met, but giving the client all the tools they will need to keep moving forward. We hope this brought some clarity and ideas! :)

Thanks for the video. Two questions for the coaches: 1) What guarantees that you, as a coach, know that your coachee's actions go in the right direction when you have any expertise/experience in the field of activity of the coachee's goals ? - 2) As a coachee, in case I don't reach my goals with the 1st coaching cycle, why would I want to restart a new cycle with the same coach?
@mindvalleycoach
@mindvalleycoach 3 жыл бұрын
Those are great questions, Thomas! We share our thoughts on them: 1) The coaching journey is about the client, not the coach. As a coach, we can guide them but it will be a client’s decision what road they want to take and what they want to accomplish. We are just supporting their journey for them to achieve transformation. Therefore, you cannot really guarantee anything in any way, it’s the client who will do the work. And also be mindful of the fine line between coaching and consulting. 2) If the client can see progress and the coach has built good rapport with the client, and can show them the potential of their work together still, it’s highly likely a client will want to continue working together. It might also happen that the client achieves a goal they had, and still wants to resign because the coach helped them see an even greater goal they now want to pursue. It’s all about showing the possibilities and seeing if the client still wants to do the work in order to get these. We hope this helps!

@mindvalleycoach
@mindvalleycoach Жыл бұрын
Great question, Fiyaz! It really depends on your coaching style and your client's expectations. We recommend one follow-up after a coaching session with the summary of action steps. Some coaches like sharing key takeaways from the sessions and/or extra resources. If you feel the need to do extra follow-ups, you can do so but we recommend setting the expectations with clients to avoid overwhelming them. Let us know if this answers your question.

@mindvalleycoach
@mindvalleycoach 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Jessica! It really depends on the client and their needs. Some steps can take a shorter or longer time for each client. It is recommended for every session to have both of those steps (so there's clarity in the goal and the action plan works as "homework" they can do before the next session). But if the goal is clear, you can quickly touch upon it and go straight to step 2, or if Step 1 takes the whole session, then you can wait until there's clarity on the goals. Ultimately, we'd say: trust your gut! ;) Hope this helps!

Great question, Rajesh! It'd be important to understand why you feel you are not adding value and if the client senses the same thing. Maybe the client is moving towards their desired outcome and is satisfied. You can always use powerful questions to gauge how they are doing and how you can best support them. Ask questions like, "What do you feel is holding you back from your next step?", "What can I do to support your journey?", "What else can I support you with?", "How are you feeling with this journey so far?", and so on. Provocative questions will also encourage them to share more so you can understand where they are coming from and ensure you provide the support they need to continue. We hope this answers your question ❤
