I always love hearing about those that still hold onto their vinyl, from back in the day. During those times, vinyl was the only real way to get these tracks and it was a HUGE part of the scene, to have these records on hand to play.
@lafluerpeter92 сағат бұрын
@STRANJAH Ahh, no I had it back in the day, situation in 02 meant I had to get rid of my vinyl and techs, og jungle and dnb up to about 97 (it got a bit to intelligent/jazzy for me after) then collected again from around 00 to 02 but also my UKG collection up to the same point, with some tunes that fetch a stupid price on discogs today. I got myself a ddjrb around 2015, but like I say, I'm old school, but I didn't have access to much of the stuff I had on vinyl so had to rip stuff from YT (I know it gets better) and the odd bits from P2P sites, I didn't have a clue about bitrates in audio at the time until I played a small Internet radio station and listening (if I could) to the tracks of low quality I played was shameful. So I invested in a set of reloop turntables and pioneer mixer around covid time , and found someone who was selling a mixed vinyl collection near me, took a good handful of tunes, some of my old UKG and jungle DnB were among it, shot down was plus Ray Keith vintage dread album. So since then I've been lucky to find a few items at charity shops, but if not then I'll get bits off doscogs, it's an expensive hobby. (as I'll get too) Since then I figured that these new turntables are awful for vinyl mixing, and one of the reloops motors seized up outside warranty with minimal use, I got a ddj800 and found a bulletin board site were people rip their UKG vinyl to share, so I have a good selection of WAVS and FLACS, but digital is OK, but nothing beats the feeling of vinyl. So I did what every madman does and invest (his soul and keeping in the wifes good books for life after such an extravagant purchase)in a set of 1210mk2s. But in all the money I've ploughed into it these have bought me the most joy, these are what I put on and play (through the ddj800) they make me feel 15-22 again, even though I have a ps1/2 and stuff from back then, putting the needle on the record (and the drum beat goes like this😁😁 sorry) it just gives me that buzz again that controlling 1s and 0s on a screen doesn't.

YESSSSSSSS!!!! I HAS ON VINYL. You're talking directly to old folks like me. This one's circa 2001? 🤷🏻♂️ I'm pretty sure it was DBBC Ladies of Spain that truly hooked me on DNB in those days...
@davidowle377222 сағат бұрын
Moments in old folk ravin'... It was indeed DBBC Ladies of Spain that turned me from kinda liking DNB into a full-fledged trainspotter... Then on to buying vinyl and decks. There used to be a basement club in Victoria called Neptune and the club owners or associated promoters put on an outdoor party in honour of the November Leonid meteor shower. The party was slightly up island at a popular party spot (the quarry if I'm not mistaken). It was a hell of a time of year to have an outdoor party, but it worked. Let's just say I stupidly took my "medicine" before getting on the shuttle and it affected me too hard/quickly. I almost got back on the shuttle home, but then I heard Ladies of Spain pumping out of the DNB tent. It was a 'WTF IS THAT TRACK!?' moment... I was hooked. While trying to find Ladies of Spain I found Planet Dust. Also a 'WTF IS THAT TRACK!?' moment...
