It is difficult to say what material she is using, but I usually use a buckram or cloth material with a backing paper, this allows for adequate sticking.

I have a book where the front and back is three colors. Can I use three different kind of linen and glue them (onto or next to each other) together??

Yes you can, if you place the 3 different colours tightly next to each other, measure the overall size, then you cut that size out of a 90 - 135 gsm paper. Once you cut the paper to size, glue the reverse side of the material strips one by one and place it onto the paper in the desired sequence. Once you have glued the 3 colors to the single sheet of paper, cover it with something slightly larger than the overall size and leave it under a brick or a heavy book or 2 until tomorrow.

15 - 20 mm onto the front and onto the back board should be sufficient. So you place a piece of paper from the front board and onto the back board, holding it tightly as demonstrated and make a mark from the edge of the front board, as well as on the edge of the back board, closest to the spine of the book, then you add 15 to 20mm on either side. This will give you the total width of the new material strip used for the new spine of the cover.
