I can't express how grateful I am for this tutorial, I've been struggling with volumetrics with Octane since I started using it and NEVER managed to make them look good at all, this is so far the best tutorial on the topic, perfectly explained, no crazy movement on the screen, good pace, didn't even felt the 20 mins, thanks a lot!! and keep making tutorials, I'm gonna be watching them all, if I can suggest one, maybe with AOVs, render passes and compositing, now I am trying to deep dive a bit more on the topic and a tut would be awesome, thanks a lot again!!

Thanks man! I am glad to have been of help. I'm preparing new content, I've just been busy with personal projects and clients. And of course! I'm planning a tutorial on AOVs, stay tuned.

without any sarcastic mood, can i ask you the benefits you find in using octane versus cycles, because i try it and it seems very buggy and slower inm the overall expiernce to me. thanks for the tut!

I thought I had answered you haha I use octane because its algorithm is much more advanced than cycles, which gives me a much more realistic look, and ironically also allows me to stylize much more. Also, Octane has much better color management than Cycles, you can work in Aces CG. In Cycles, you have the awful Filmic, AGX and now Khronos PBR, all 3 of these mess up the color information. And another very important thing for me are the render passes, Cycles has very few and the worst of all is that they have neither denoiser nor antialiasing. This you have to place it later in compositing. There are also other attributes of Octane like the Universal camera that has many more settings than the Cycles camera, or the texture displacement. All these factors make the rendering probably slower, but the quality will always be superior to Cycles.
