Thanks for your amazing lessons .I’m only on number 3 and I’ve learned so much already. I’m using the East Box Chromatic. It’s different to the one I used as a kid 40 years ago. Just started playing again after losing my memory due to drug abuse ,music has helped me fight my demons and my addictions. Now I’m loving life and loving music all over again. Thanks again Mr G.

My wife bought my Marine Hohner some years ago with the thought it would help me because I have COPD. Never did learn, now my wife of 56 years has passed away in July. I want learn to play more for her than me. But I want to learn.

Hey Robert, I'm glad you found me and am sorry for your loss. Your wife was right though, it will help, and you can have some fun along the way. The main thing with COPD and harmonica is to have patience and do a little bit EVERY day. Don't force or rush anything. After time you will start to notice your lungs opening up. Slow and steady wins the race! :)

@robertcavalcante3240 3 жыл бұрын
@@goaster187 you smoke less than a pack and you want to TRY to quit? That's easy. Take the pack, crush it your hand and throw it out. I quit over 35 years ago, when my one granddaughter said she didn't want to see me die from smoking. Egged on by my son. But, I smoked for 30 years, when I did quit, I was smoking 3 PACKS A DAY. I took my cigarettes crushed the pack I had and threw them away. Just like that. No cutting down or Nucorett gum. Just QUIT from 3 packs a day to none. For weeks I walked around patting my shirt pocket where I kept them. Today I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke. I'm saying it's easy, just do it. I was talking to a guy at the customer service counter in the local store and he started to buy a pack. I told him what I did and he stopped and said for get the cigarettes, I quit. Just like that. Just Do It. You'll feel better for it.

Hi Mitch, I'm having trouble with the 8 hole draw. It's very difficult to get the right sound, sometimes I can't get any sound. Much more difficult than the 7 and 9 draws. My C harmonica is brand new, I'm wondering if I have a dead read or something. Any reason for that or tips?

My 5 hole draw was doing the same thing. I looked up how to fix it and ended up removing the cover plates and GENTLY prying on the reed to get it to open up more. Careful not to pry too hard or you will break it!

Yes, the 2 hole draw can be the hardest to get right. The main thing is the stay really relaxed and make like you are sipping on a straw. Don't breath in too hard!

What I found out is that 2 starts sounding right when I open my throat by moving Adam's apple down. It also improves sound on 3, but surprisingly it blocks sound on 1, I need to put my throat in the original position to get that to make a sound. Also try experimenting with moving your tongue in different positions, it alters the sound in interesting ways. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I use a harmonica in A key.

While practicing, went too hard and knocked the 7th blow reed right off tune and broke the reed after tuning it halfway 🤣 . 1st thing I am buying after the quarantine ends is a new one. Any suggestions?
