Important to mention… When the piston is in the rest position, the brake fluid will be balanced via The compensation hole. This compensation hole is very small, clean this compensation hole with a very thin wire of copper, if it would clog… you are guaranteed a dragging caliper, this has already happened to me twice!!! with the Honda CBX 1000. Stay Safe.

Thanks for the nice vid. Probably, no' need to remove the clevis part, as long as the push rod is long enough to allow removal of that circlip. Saves adjustment on the bike when putting it back toghether...

Or just mark it with a sharpie.. I pulled mine apart and when I pulled the push rod out after removing the snap ring and there was no piston inside with the rubber o rings or whatever.

On mine had to pull the rubber down to get at the nut, and that was well and truely stuck, knacked the end of the tread trying to hold it while undoing the nut, the rubber in the meantime was off the nut, and still haven't got it off, if i us heat will end up mealting the rubber, so looking at your film it looks easy but in real life nothing is easy

How do i know of its my master or something else causing the issue. The caliper seems fine but even after bleed the brake it dont grab and the pedal goes all way down super easy no leakes any where. Would that be the line kr master
@GTsGarage5 жыл бұрын
Not sure, that sounds like there is still air in the line somewhere. Have you cracked open the banjo bolt to see if theres air trapped in the highest part f the caliper.

Great video, exactly what I needed. I have 2 questions if you can help me. which way seal goes on to the piston. seal has 2 different edges single and dual - hopefully I am explaining this well. second question: the main bold has at the end a hollow pin through which prevents me from taking the top off (I think you called it clevit) - any idea how I can remove clevit

+GTs Garage it's a lovely Honda cb1300 2003 and the rear brake is very soft, I can't lock rear wheel no matter how hard I stamp on it. I bled it and there is no air. I am assuming master cylinder is not holding the pressure so want to change seals as you have shown but am stuck with top part. Thanks
@GTsGarage8 жыл бұрын
Hi Michal, take a look at the following website, it gives you a break down of the rear master cylinder. www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_motorcycle_parts_selection_pfk.php?block_01=13MEJ3E1&block_02=F__1200&block_03=1369&block_04=xx&block_05=hmc if it isnt exactly what you are seeing, then go to the home page and re pick your version of the CB1300 listed. The detail should show you how the component is put together, come back to me if still no help
@umiketu8e8 жыл бұрын
+GTs Garage thanks. This is perfect. Actually it does not show that push rod 12 has a pin through at the bottom, so I guess I can just get rid of one I have and replace it with split pin. Thanks very much and all the best

Hi, apologies for the late reply, I found air was the biggest problem, I had to use my thumb to make a vacuum and draw the fluid through, only when the fluid is at the banjo connection did I attach the brake hose, then bleed as normal
@iforgothisname25647 жыл бұрын
I'm having this problem with the rear brakes. When you push down it does its thing but you take your foot off the pads stay on the disc and the peg also comes back up. I'm not sure if it is the master cylinder. What do you think it is??

my pump oil leaking
@GTsGarage5 жыл бұрын
Its quite easy to get an air block in these when putting them back together. You can remove that by capping the end with your thump and quickly releasing it, until the oil flows, then connect to the hose to the rear brake and bleed as normal. If you have an air block in the pumpg can cause additional pressure to be applied internally casing the seal to pop and and force liquid out, Good luck

No mention of how the rebuild is done, all I saw was taking it apart and put back together. Not really helpful! Anyone can do that. No explanation of why it fails. Obviously I should make a video, couldn't be any less informative.
