There is one more step. After the corn is cut up, the silage runs through a kernal processor -- a set of rollers that squash the kernels. You may have to add your own as cheap Chinese cutters don't include it. Its a standard feature on high end self propelled choppers.This improves digestability and releases carbohydrates that aid in fermentation. And helps prevent feed sorting by the cows.

Thank you for your response. I want to use dry maize stalks since its winter now...my questions are should i use the same measurements of molasses and EM as uses with milking maize stalks? Also do i need to add water when using dry maize stalks and lastly, if i silage hay bale can i use the same measurements? Thank you sir

@@hommieSimz if you are using dry maize. Molases :water is 1:2 respectively and add one liter of em. In dry maize ensure the dry maize has more molases but not completely wet. You can also improve the quality by adding one kg of urea n complex mix with water and molasses before sprinkling on to the material. Hay and silage are two different methods of preservation if its hay keep it as hay i.e hay from grass
