Thank you for your informative series. I noticed that one can forego the pivot table slicer connections if all of the pivot tables are stored on the same worksheet. Is that correct please?
@DavidWettonExcelBI9 жыл бұрын
Tanner Tucker Not necessarily. Slicers are tied to a specific pivot product. I often create multiple products on a single dashboard that all come from the same workbook in the same file, but I have to connect the slicers. In some cases I have up to ten pivot products on a single dashboard. You don't have to connect all the slicers to all the products, unless you want to. I know there are performance issues if you get too much on a single dashboard but most of my data files aren't all that large. But it may impact how things work if you put the file on a Sharepoint site and access it via the web.

If in the Raw Data I have some fields which are with formula in the Data sheet. Like I use SUMIF, SUMIFS & Vlookup. Will these fields work accordingly.
@EventHorizonTV9 жыл бұрын
In a regular table using sorters, my sorted rows are sorted by position they appear in the able. i.e., row 13 then 42, then 98, then 116...etc. When I use my slicers, my sorted criteria in my slicers can only be ascending or descending order, numerically and alphabetically. This makes my filtered data in the slicers mismatched from slicer to slicer. Can I format the slicer to lock sorting only by position in the table so that sorting criteria can match from slicer to slicer?

Congratulations, David! You've managed to confuse a whole lot of people. That is NOT a dashboard that you created. It's a bunch of slicers placed on a single Excel sheet to modify a single data table. It provides little in the way of insight into my data. A dashboard visually tracks, analyzes and displays key performance indicators (KPI), metrics and key data points.

@DavidWettonExcelBI9 жыл бұрын
+manh2468 I'm not sure I understand the question. What "Name" field did you want to insert? And "Define" is also not clear. Did you want to add your own Name titles on the dashboard? You can do that under Insert tab using "Text Box". I use that for putting titles or labels into my dashboards. Hope that helped.

Nive video David. What software did you use to record this video. Was it Camtasia. thank you
@DavidWettonExcelBI9 жыл бұрын
Carlton Seymour I believe I used "Active Presenter". I'm thinking of switching over to Camtasia though as it is a better product (but of course it is more expensive). But if I'm going to do this seriously, I have to invest.
@carltonseymour8699 жыл бұрын
Thanks David Yes Camtasia is the best in the industry Carlton
@DavidWettonExcelBI9 жыл бұрын
Carlton Seymour I should have bought it when our (canadian) dollar was worth more than a US dollar. Now it's only worth 75 cents so Camtasia is a lot more expensive. Oh well, investing in good equipment is a key to success in any business.

@DavidWettonExcelBI9 жыл бұрын
milkbattle Sure. pub.data.gov.bc.ca/datasets/177244/BC_Guide_to_Ab_Org.xlsx If you copy that link into Power Query "From Web" function on the toolbar it will create a direct link to this file and you can go ahead and build a Pivot table and dashboards without actually having to download the file. This file comes from an open data source in Canada (the province of BC).
