I started watching Atlas Obscura because of Dylan's charm and the 100 Wonders series (please more), and now the channel is back with more fascinating glimpses into this fun, weird world. Keep it up, AO!

That collection of licence plates on the wall that spelled out "god speed John Glenn" is the most american thing I've ever seen.

I remember. The Future promised to us in 1959 (or 1960-1975) was one of expansion. Sometimes I wonder who stole that dream and I mourn its loss. At least it has this excellent collection as a memorial of what could have been... And yes, I know a LOT of the fantasy science is just that - but instead of looking for the real science to make it work, it seems we fought wars and built big banks when we could have been looking for ways to make things work. Now I'll stump off on my soap boxes (strapped to my feet for convenience) and mutter about it elsewhere.
