I'm heading back in early April and starting in Lourdes, France.

I really appreciate you not setting it all to music. It renders a more real feel!

Agree ... Most of my content is pictures. I add some music for them. I appreciate the sounds on the Camino. I never wear earbuds or headphones. You can't hear the roosters in the morning. :)

Yes, it was rainy! It was April 2, 2023. I'm starting my 2024 Camino from Lourdes on April 4, 2024. I hope you will "Follow" me! Thanks!!

Great video. I’m planning on starting in early April. Do you think gortex shoes are required? I was going to use regular trail runners. They dry quicker. What do you suggest?

I didn't wear Gore-Tex shoes, but the weather was perfect. Trail runners are lighter, dry fast, and can be stuffed with paper when wet.

I've walked the Camino twice before and both times went with the Napolean route over Col De Lepodoer to Roncesvalles. I'm walking again the first of September from St Jean and plan to walk the Valcarlose route. My first Camino was sunshine all the way across Spain in 2015 and in 2017 rain fifty percent of the time like you had crossing the Pyrenees. How difficult did you find this route after Gainecoleta and how long did it take to get to Ibaneta pass from there? I will be 71 years old in March and am fairly fit. By the way, loved your video.

My 2023 Camino was my first, and I found day one difficult. It was disappointing to not be able to take the Napoleon Route. There were few opportunities to stop at a bar for coffee or lunch. There were some places in Valcarlos, but I don't remember any after that. You can stay in Valcarlos. It was cold and rainy, and much of the route was on the road. I remember arriving around 5, wet and cold. The help had hot tea prepared for us.

@@yournextjourney3786 Hi I'm glad I found your channel, we are going to start our first Camino next week ,this Aug 31 the French way by bike. Your video helps us a lot , giving us an idea of what to expect. In your opinion do you think it is doable to take this route by bike and is there any alternate route? How many miles was this and how long did it take you. Thanks a lot just subscribe

@@cecillenadela3752 yes. You would have to check with other bikers for the complete bike route. I'm guessing it continues on the road. Doable for sure!! Good luck
