I feel like the first person's experience resonated with my own personal family conflict I've gone thru. I've taken therapy and have moved out since then. I've been on and off with my older sibling blc of the drama. Boundaries were also communicated but not respected. There is little to no emotional intimacy with my family members currently. What I learned is that trying to communicate with ppl who do not care to communicate never works since they don't care to change. I do not think communication was or is the solution in that person's case. There are a lot of chances given to someone before deciding to cut them off or go 'no contact'. It just seems like the person's experience was getting mocked because they are gen z (like me- I am now 25), the language they used, and the fact that it's family so the drama is to be expected, or that they just wanted attention. But in actuality, the last thing I ever wanted was attention from toxic family members- cutting them off brought me so much peace and made room for people knew how to be respectful and civil. It feels depressing when your experience gets dismissed blc its not traumatic enough by someone else's standards. Did anyone else feel similarly? Or am I just too sensitive? But no, I do not think they are the asshole for wanting to distance themselves from their family. Edit: i really appreciate the hosts for inviting us to share our disagreements. I wasn’t expecting to hear that at the end of the episode. It’s very reassuring cause i was worried that writing this comment wasn’t gonna be welcomed so thank you guys for that.
